Specular graphics glitch/bug

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:39 am

I just noticed a specular texture graphics glitch in the
Spoiler
walking box cavern
where big squares of texture space seem to change from the specularly detailed dark texture to the generic ground texture when out of range of the flashlight. I'm not sure if this means that the cave should look like the dark texture and my graphics are just wrong for the game (which they could be, dark areas don't seem to have any specular reflections on them anywhere in the game).

How is it supposed to look? Can anyone post screenshots of the game at night? I'm guessing my visuals are totally wrong as it does seem really dry at night.

Here are shots detailing when the textures pop into vision:

Heres a better shot so you guys can see it better, this isn't 2 images but where the textures meet. The dark area looks right to me. Whats going on?

I've had this happen in the middle of the wasteland where it'll go from rocky detailed textures to smooth sandy rounded textures. Essentially there is some delay in the textures loading. I'm not sure if that's a RAM issue or something with caching. Usually if I continue to move through the area the proper texture will appear after time. If that's not happening w/ you, then you probably need to post your dxdiag (as a spoiler) in this thread so the devs can see if it's either a hardware issue or a game scripting issue. That being said, make sure your video drivers are up to date. ;-)

a dxdiag is not necessary, I'm using the latest 10.10 drivers for ATI on a 4850 card.
