It depends on what you want from the game.
Talking a few perks in speech so you can get to the investment perk can let you boost shopkeepers gold and stock which makes it easier for you to sell stuff. Especially if you invest in the shop in Riverwood.

You can live without these perks though because apart from the early stages, money isn't really a huge issue.

Seeing how making gold is trivial even with a speech rank of 15, I'd say no.

IMO it is worth it.

Being able to sell any type of item to a merchant cuts down the time selling stuff. Once I have that perk, I head to Riverwood and speak to the Trader selling all my stuff (since he has more gold then other merchants in the game), PLUS I get a bit more gold since I am selling to the oppisite six (playing a female of course).

Its completly useless and lvls normally just by selling stuff, you can already use gear to boost price bonus, so any perk in this tree is completly wasted, persuasion/bribery/intimidation all irrelevant for this game since dialogue has almost 0 relevance in this game.

I level up to where I can sell anything with anyone so I can sell all my loot more easily.

Yeah, you get 11k to barter with every 48 hours at the riverwood trader. And that perk is at level 70 and called investor. I have 200,000 grand fat because I could then sell my stuff.

All of the perks in Speech do nothing but save/earn you money. These would be useful if money wasn't already too easily earned. The perk tree is actually well designed and would be worthwhile if there was an overhaul to the economy. As it stands though, every perk in Speech is worthless.

I'm using investor perk as an alternative to avoid the thieves guild. If your planning on being a thief in the thieves guild it may not be worth it to you. There I supposedly a merchant in the guild that has 4k gold default.

Getting gold as a thief is easy as hell. So not really.

I understand that money comes easy but its easy to spend I think. I'm only level 35. But I manage to spend at least 10k every level for training. Plus I think its around 90k for all houses and decor.

The best the Perk tree has to offer is convenience Perks. For the most part I'd say they are worthless and Perk points better invested in other areas.

its great in the beginning but its usefulness falls off quite a bit. the higher ur lvl gets the easier gold becomes and u really dont need speech. even for low levels, u level perks so quickly that u wont be low enough for speech to be useful long enough. by the time its at a high level, ur too high a level to care.

the bribery/intimidation line is pretty convenient though and for a mage that doesnt need any armor or weapon perks, u might as well get it...

its great in the beginning

I don't know... I'd argue that, at any point in the game, sticking perks into Enchanting or Alchemy would generate more money, plus they affect your power.

Eh, not really in my opinion, if you sell enough and interact with vendors and people, your dpeech will go up to a sufficient level for persuasion and intimidation.

If you want to be filthy rich, then it is worthy. For RP reason more than anything else. I took the left path of the tree up to 100 and it is fun. It was the last skill I developed to complete the build at level 50 but since 60 is still easy to reach (I was level 59 with 220+ hours when I recreated, the same char, because he is just too much fun to play!) Always in Master diff, without alchemy and daedric items.

Speech MIGHT be worth it if you still had the option to try and Bribe, Intimidate or Taunt every NPC in the game like in previous titles, but not anymore.

I used the console and added the + investment perk.

Should of been given the option without the speech skill/ perk investments. I think it adds a sense of realism.

Its not a complete OP bonus either, you still have to give them the money.

It has served me well. I was caught burglarizing a place last night and the guards were called. I just persuaded the guard to let me go. That's fairly useful.

No it's not, because you could have instead just paid the fine. Like I said before, Speech perks do nothing beyond earning or saving money. That would be cool if money had any value.

I'm of two minds. On my rogue I'm curerntly working my way up the Speech perk tree. I don't really need the funds, I currently have 100k gold, but I'm something of a packrat and I can't not pick up valuable stuff when I'm adventuring. Then I want to sell it, and it's getting to be a pain to sell it all. So i figure work up to the master perk, and invest in the merchants I use the most, and it will alleviate the issue somewhat. However I'm only picking this up because there aren't a ton of perks I want more.
