Speed loaders

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:49 pm

I am having problems with revolvers causing some jumpiness in the game. I really would like to use them. The only one that doesn't cause that problem is "That gun". as it appears to use speed loaders. It would really be nice if there were speed loaders for the other revolvers in the game. Is there some suggestion about how I can fix this problem otherwise? Any other comments? Thanks in advance.

Revolvers that don't use speedloaders:

.357 Magnum
Lucky

Revolvers that use speedloaders:

Hunting Revolver
Ranger Sequoia
.44 Magnum
Mystery Magnum
That Gun

The .357 magnums suffer from the same reloading bug that plagues any firearm that loads one cartridge at a time, including all lever-actions and the Hunting Shotgun.

If you're playing on a PC, there's a user-made patch someone will surely drop in here and link to soon that will fix it.

If you're not on a PC, you're stuck until the next patch comes out and hopefully fixes it.

Thanks, I am playing on PC but I had quit using any revolvers early on due to the 357 problem. I 'll have to try out a 44 magnum. The hunting revolver 45/70 ammo is just too rare for me to use it consistantly.

The .357 and Lucky are based on the Colt SAA.....which itself was based on the lockwork of Colt's earlier cap and ball revolvers. You can load the things ingame faster than I've ever seen anyone do it IRL. They weren't designed to be loaded super fast by modern standards....in 1873 they thought it was super-fast compared to a cap and ball revolver....that was one of the features of the more modern revolvers with thier swing-out cylinders that began to appear around 20 years after the SAA did, what the other revolvers in-game are based on. While a effective weapon, its users usually choose it for stylistic reasons in spite of the limitations of the design. If you want a cowboy gun, you choose the .357/Lucky. If you want the most effective revolver, you go with one of the others. They'd be better off putting in a .357 version of the .44 Mag/MM in for people who want a better .357 than trying to patch the .357/Lucky to make it unrealistic.

Holding down zoom whilst reloading works for me.

Yup. I'm pretty familiar with the process of reloading single-action revolvers http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/pp294/windsail/ForumPic.jpg. (Yes, the larger is indeed the .45-70 BFR on which the Hunting Revolver and Ranger Sequoia are based. And no, in reality it does not swing the cylinder out and accept a speedloader.) :D
