No it does not. Only time a melee is an instant kill is when the opponent is on the ground knocked down).

No, No OHK. At all. They're trying to make a different FPS. That ISN'T like every other one.

There are no one-hit kills in Brink. Well, there are, but those only apply when the heaviest possible weapon hits a light guy in the face, and even then he only becomes incapacitated (can be revived by medic).

The developers have stated that there are as little as possible OHK's in the game. (The only one that has been confirmed is a light headshot with the Barrett) Everything else is out for thought.

yes,
this way lights can't just do a quick move to get behind you and instant kill you

In short, no. Stabs to the back don't insta-kill, or even do extra damage for that matter. I remember when they did have backstabs as an instant kill, but that was quickly scrapped. I believe the devs figured that if you snuck up on someone and attacked them from behind you already had enough of an advantage without letting you insta-kill the guy.

Is this confirmed? Or just deduction?

I hope it isn't OHK (I love this aspect of the game) but I want a solid fact.

^ This

If you knock someone down and melee them, then they are killed on the spot.
But remember this, once you knock someone down, they can STILL FIRE BACK. So don't expect to easily turn around and score for the knife/weapon melee kill.
Maybe if you get another person to distract him. Which is called Teamwork. AKA: Brink's basic and utmost important tactic.

Absolute comfirmed.

@Denvdes: You'll generally never be flamed if you have a genuine concern or topic.

Fair enough. I'll look for a source. It should be in the compendium.

Here we go.
http://www.fragworld.org/frag/community-blogs/brink-info-pt-3-weapons-and-customization.html

Scroll past the picture of 9 beautiful guns, right after the fake coversation.

"- By default, no gun is powerful enough to kill anyone with one bullet. (Did you hear that? NO GUN! This includes headshots with “sniper” (short) rifles) "

Actually a its been said that headshots from powerful weapons will OHK an unbuffed light. Also a knife attack. Also no light worth their salt is going to run around unbuffed.

a knife attack isnt a OHK and a light might not be buffed by teammates or could have just been revived

This is true^

Now there are numerous source for that : By default, no gun is powerful enough to kill anyone with one bullet (with the possible exception of headshots) http://brink.wikia.com/wiki/Weapons

I mean incap. Nothing can instantly bypass that. We just need to use OHI.

I am not, they just need to be used right.

If he's just been revived, he's going to be chasing down the Medic, not picking a fight.

Unless he's not a good Light (which ties back to Wraith's comment).

Part of being small and fast is knowing what you can't do, and when you have to stay away from the front lines.
