» Tue Jun 14, 2011 6:36 am So it seens that Splash Damage is not competent enough (unlike Zipper, Insoniac, Bungie, Activision, EA, and many others) to make a decent net code.
As we all know and understand, Brink uses a matchmaking system where one player is a Host and the other join his match, up till here, everything is fine.
Now.. what not many people know (especially those that brought Brink and don′t live on USA or other place with lots of Hosts) is that the matchmaking will only get you inside a game where your ping is almost 95% positive (the green bar in case someone is wondering)..... what happens when its bellow that? Well..... you wont enter that game session and wont play online with other people, cause your conection may be too bad and will make everyone experience bad enough with lag and stuff..
Congratulations Splash Damage for doing the best for some players and simply left others who may have great internet conection, but live too far away from any host (wich makes our ping high) to just play with the stupid bots... not only did we paid the import price (we have any right as any north american, european, asian, whatever to play a game too before anyone comes with hates in their eyes), we also trusted that you would be good enough to give us a great online experience (if those other companies could give us a great netcode for great playing, so should you right?.. but nah.. you guys are too much second rate to even manage that).
Now i know there is a lot of people playing online and i′m happy for those people, truly am, they′ve paid the price for the game and might as well enjoy it fully, i just wish that the developer would be more talented to give at least a dedicated server, or a better network solution.
Ohhh.. and Splash Damage.. kudos for the bethesda support (wich has nothing to do with you guys i presume), they just have no freaking idea how to help the customers who call them day and night to at least figure it out how this system works.
For all those that can′t see a single soul online, there is the explanation.... the matchmaking is lefting you out of the MANY games going, cause you may lag those people.
Brink is a great game, and the first one that made me stop MAG for some days.. but i regret deeply having putting faith in splash damage...still, i have faith that they may see the problems that some people are facing and give dedicated servers, or a lobby, anything, otherwise.. just go bankrupt please....
