Definite ending?
Not really something new, we've known about it for a long time,.

Oh and we already have a thread about it: [http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112036-definitive-ending-to-new-vegas-poll/]

Why?
It really is for the better.

I mean, say you side with NCR and at the ending as the sliders go on you hear about what NCR is going to do and what they changed around the Mojave Wasteland, and when you return back to the game after the ending nothing changed.
Wouldn't that be annoying?

Having a definitive ending may well be better actually.

Seriously what is better....

Doing all the side quests after completing the main quest and seeing the ending which only covers the events of the main quest?

Or doing all the side quests BEFORE completing the main quest and having the slideshow and Ron Pearlman talking about all your actions and the results thereof during the ending? (ala the original Fallout) And since you're going to do this, no point in continuing afterwards as there'll be none of the talked about changes.

they could at least add a free roam when you beat it, and compltely end the story so you can keep on doing sidequests and stuff.

I'd just save the game before the final quest and do what I've left undone until I feel I'm ready to end my story.

I don't understand why people hate definite endings.. I really don't. If exploring EVERY SQUARE INCH of the game is sooooo IMPORTANT to you, just do it before beating the game. Simple, no?

Want to go play a game of blackjack, or something, until this all blows over?

I have a feeling we're going to be seeing this way past the release date.

Black Jack is such a short game... I'd rather have a round or two of Cassino.

they could still add a free roam to us people that like to explore all the game has to offer.

Exactly right.... but here's the problem. For an entirely different topic, I mentioned if there was something someone didn't like, than don't use it. And the general response to that was negative. If it ends, which it's pretty well been confirmed multiple times, than the perfect solution is what you suggest.

The game will make an automatic save right before the no-turning-back point of the main quest, just load that one up.

you can. just do it before you finish the main quest.

a real ending is a good idea. whats the point of doing all these things to aid the wastes then playing in a game world like nothing happned

I don't mind definite endings, as long as the ending is really really good, FO3's ending was soooo lame. I remember when the credits started rolling, I was like . . . are you [censored] kidding me?!?!?!

Me neither. Particularly in this game, where the sidequests have an impact on the ending. Freeplay after the end is counterproductive here because you miss out on delicious consequences.

IMHO, free roam is great, but in Fallout the definite ending gives you more opportunities for new characters. Different characters means joining different factions, finding new locations and playing in a different playstyle. Ive already got the basis for 6 characters myself.

In FO2 (AKA The Best Fallout) there is a free roam after beating the MQ + some nifty references

Changed something for ya, and that free roam ends after a certain amount of time.

Can't be that hard to come up with different characters.
How about a good guy who has a severe drug and gambling problem?
How about a snide little punk who wants to go big but really is weak as [censored]?
How about an anarchist character? He will kill all factions leaders, causing chaos amongst all factions.
What about a guy who just wants to be left alone and drink booze to numb away emotional his pain but always somehow keeps getting dragged into situations to save the day for the people even though he really doesn't care about the situation?

The amazing Gabriel has lots of different roles to take on in Vegas. :disguise:

heehee you almost got a few of mine there.
A neutral fast talking gambler
An evil sniper who gets off by killing people(Got the idea form a recent venture brothers episode i watched.)
A Big guns using good guy who lets his minigun do the talking
A neutral survivalist who takes what she wants, but only fights when shes attacked. (gonna be fun)
Another good guy who prefers to get up close and personal with his business
A bad guy with very low charisma/intelligence, but a high strength.

also thinkin on more.
