When Smithing, in the miscllaneous section it show a "Shellcrab Helmet". It requires iron and Shellcrab Chitin. Mudcrab chitin does not work. Where can I find the "Shellcrab Chitin" to make this helmet? Also, why is there only a helmet listed and no other armor types?

Sounds like a mod- are you sure a mod hasnt added this to your lists?

That's a Dawnguard DLC thing, and It's called Shellbug.

Since the normal game does not have a Miscellaneous section for smithing, I would guess that you have a mod that added this, and therefore need to read the instructions for it. My next guess is that there's some mudcrab varients - somewhere - that drop the chitin.

It's a shellbug helmet that you use shellbug chitin to make.
Also, this is from the Dawnguard DLC, you should use the http://www.gamesas.com/forum/196-dawnguard-cheats-hints-and-spoilers/ for this type of question.

Anyways, since this was moved to the proper section, look in the Forgotten Vale for 2 shellbugs you can mine. One is in The Forgotten Vale Cave near the area for when you first enter it. Look for the pull rope to open the area with it. Another is in a slightly hard to find cave called Sharpeslop Cave. Follow the wall while going down the ramp and you should find it.

this isn't a mod.

that [censored] shell bug made me crap myself the first time I saw it. its hidden in a room in one of the caves in the forgotten vale. and it is really freaky. its a completely passive creature, it just looks weird and makes some really strange sounds.

put in mind it was pitch black in the room and I heard some strange noises, so I get out a torch and BAM. shellbug.

can anyone post a picture of a shellbug? I've finished dawnguard on 2 characters thus far and have still yet to find one

I think its a beautiful creature.
I couldnt mine it, it looks so cute.

Does anyone know if it dies if I mine it?
I thought that would be likely so I didnt, but I dont know.
Also, do they respawn?
