So today i started a new character and as i was approaching whiterun i took a long look at it and i suddenly thought that it looks familiar and then it clicked, it was set out like Rohan from Lord of the Rings.

They both have the Palace at the top of the hill, Both set in an open plain, both have the roads up to the city and they are both amazing looking.

You missed the epiphany by about 3 months. We all knew this already.

Probably did as i was too busy not visiting whiterun that often and when i did i just fast travelled.

That's why I don't fast travel, you miss out on many things.

Rohan looks nothing like Whiterun. Whiterun is a city in the middle of a plain and with villages around it. Rohan is a plain with a city in the middle and villages around it. Cities and plains tend to not look alike.

the question remains who is then Eowyn.

Whiterun's got more houses but other then that they are both the same.

You still had to walk there the first time. So how you didnt notice it then, it beyond me.

Would you not build your palace at the top as to get the best view of your land? Would you not build in the middle of the plain, as to see attackers from any direction easily? Would you not... build a road so people can actually get to your city? Would you not make your city look amazing?

I think it was more chance then on purpose, but yes they are rather similiar.

The capital of Rohan, and the city you're thinking of is Edoras.

I think he meant Edoras, the capitol of Rohan
