My Stalker DB Initiate

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:42 pm

With the Dawnstar Sanctuary opened, Nazir recruits two new initiates to the DB. One male and one female. The female is hot, but has crazy eyes. The PC i'm currently playing is a Khajit, so there won't be any cross species contamination (too bad). Anyway, after finishing the Ancient Assassin quest and stripped Deepwood Redoubt/Vale/Hag's whatever clearn of stuff, I figured I go on a selling tour of Skyrim and decided to take "Lucretia" along with me as a "bodyguard" and pack mule. We hit all the major hold cities and sold all of the booty (so to speak) and returned to the Sanctuary. Where I promptly dismissed her.

Except she didn't "dismiss". She followed me to my room, still asking how she could serve (That's right, use your imagination, maybe the next DLC?) So I commanded her again and dismissed her again, which she acknowledged. I go on about doing whatever I was doing in prep for a bounty op and head out. She follows. Another command and dismiss. Acknowledged. Mount old Shadowmere and off we go.

Arrive at prep location and there she is. Command and "wait" order. Acknowledged. Saddle up and start off and she's following. Dismount, command, dismiss, acknowlege. Mount up again and off we go. I can hear her running behind Shadow and me.

I get to the bounty location and go in, and she's there. In the non-command mode, so she's not drawn a weapon while I have and in sneak mode. We manage to get through the location with little problems until the end. She's quite the persistent fighter, so I let her go. We concluded the bounty, stripped the place and headed out. This time she didn't follow.

Sold off what I had and went back. She was still there. Command/dismiss/acknowledge and I took what she had and left. She didn't follow.

FInished and headed back to the Sanctuary and she isn't there. I don't have a problem with that as a follower on a DB mission isn't worth the effort, other than as a pack mule. And I think she's a crazy stalker infatuated with the Khajit Listener (okay, I'm a perv).

Anyone else have this issue with a DB initiate? And is there a fix, or will she be guarding that locale until the end?

The only issue I have with the Dark Brotherhood Initiate followers is that the AI needs to take them in and have their brakes checked...

We'd be sneaking through a dungeon somewhere, I'd stop to peruse the items on a shelf to see if they're worth selling. She'd follow me from across the room, and proceed to push me almost five feet before stopping and saying "What? Huh?" and then backing up.

Having brakes that bad should be a moving violation...

Other than that, I love the DB followers. They're hard-asses in a fight, they can carry an insane amount of loot to sell, and they readily equip the weapons I give them that are infinitely better than what they come packing with (which is more than can be said for 80% of followers...). I love the DB, and I play an assassin as my go-to character in every Elder Scrolls. But that AI really needs to learn what 'personal space' is.

As far as your problem of the Follower becoming a stalker, your backstab works on them as well. You're the Listener, so you can not get kicked out of the Dark Brotherhood, or even attacked like would happen before the quest line finishes. the worst treatment you get is a witty one-liner from Cicero, and some harsh words (maybe) from Nazir. But then a new Initiate arrives within a few days, and all is right in the world again.

In closing; if they don't stop Following, I choose to see it as direct disobedience to the Listener. A crime that carries the death penalty in the Dark Brotherhood that I run. ;)

I considered that when she went postal on the bounty targets.. but she didn't die. If she stays there, then that's fine too. I'll see if she wanders back and then deal with it. :)

No joy. She went Invisi-girl on me. I tried to kill her and got the "Honor the Family" quest. So I reloaded and left her there.

Really? Are you back at the Dawnstar Sanctuary yet? You should be able to kill her with no problem.

If you really want to get away from her without any repercussions, then just find a camp or something with a ton of Bandits. Order her to attack them, then just accidentally forget to help her out. Problem solved, especially if you Fury/Frenzy the Bandits.

I've been back to Dawnstar several times. She has stayed where I left her, as she won't leave. So, its not really that big a problem, just an annoying glitch and one less initiate at the HQ. Which I probably won't use anyway, seeing as how this one turned out.
