Is stamina necessary for archers?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:09 am

I don't think so. I've put every point into health, I wear dragonscale armor, and the only thing I use stamina for is to slow time when I'm aiming. Sometimes. If I want to escape or reposition myself I just use the whirlwind sprint and jog. Sometimes I use unrelenting force or iceform. I play on master difficulty, my character is a breton, I've been blessed by the lordstone, I'm level 28, my smithing skill is 100 and the perk tree is completely filled out. Archery is about 80 and mostly filled out. Light Armor is 61, speech is mid 40s, lockpicking is high 30s, and the rest is below 30.

I just have the last 3 mainquests to do and I'm halfway through the college of winterhold quests.

Im an archer and the only thing i really use stamina for is sprinting, and carry weight. The steed stone helps heaps with that though.

I use a lot of zoom attacks, so I need a high stamina for that.

Wouldn't drinking wine or mead be better than investing in stamina? Theres so much of it throughout the world. I barely use those though. But I do use health potions often.

There are always going to be times where you are better off pulling out a weapon in close quarters, but if you never zoom or rarely carry any loot or plan to pick up dragon bones or scales, or like running for 50 ft...

Then yes, dump everything into health.

When an enemy makes the unfortunate mistake of closing in on me, thats when I zoom and slow down time.

For example when dwarven spheres come charging into me I just stand my ground. They start attacking me but I zoom in, slow time, and in three or four shots they are dead. Especially if I use Marked for Death a little before.

I thought it was so cool when my part time archer/mage two shooted a giant. Woot!
