I’ve got a standard definition TV.

And I’m wondering is the text in New Vegas, readable with a standard def TV?


Most games are fine (Including Fallout 3)
But, I’ve got Dead Rising, and Mass Effect and neither is playable because the text is too small to read.


And before I shell out $80 for the collectors edition I want to make sure I can play it. (otherwise I’ll just pick it up later when I get an HD TV)

It'll have the same text as FO3. If you're fine with FO3's, you''ll be fine with NV's.

As the game use the same game engine as Fallout 3 and it works well with Fallout 3, I'm sure it will work fine with New Vegas too

Dang, SD TV? I feel for you, even though my 22" PC monitor isn't too much better really. Hope it turns out fine, as it should.

Though it’s looking like I’ll wait a couple of weeks/months anyway for the bugs to get ironed out with a few patches.

I played through all of F:NV on a standard def television and everything was legible. Assuming you don't have a really, really old TV, it should be for you as well.

Playing on a 32" LCD TV right now. 1920x1080p. Approx 60 pixels of data/inch.

Though my previous 24" LCD Monitor was physically smaller, it had higher resolution (1920x1200p) and about 90 pixels of data/inch (better quality).

The 32" Sony is a nice mix of size, and adequate quality.

One of the FO:NV developers stated in an interview that they intentionally preserved the large font size of FO3 because of legacy TV sets.

You should be okay.

So far, they properly support scroll wheels to quickly get through text options. This is a good thing; whereas having ignored this would make me less interested in starting conversations with people.

The lip syncing isn't the greatest, but since all text is spoken, you only really need listen and then reply with, often, the 3 or more responses (giving good variety in feedback and response)

i have a 19 inch hd tv and i always find mine to be much better quality wise then most 32 inch tv's

I’m planning on getting a HD TV in a couple of months anyway though , and I’ll probably wait about that long for NV patches to come out.

I remember having to play Oblivion on a Plasma EDTV, it was passable, but just barely. As soon as your budget allows, you should spring for a cheap LCD HDTV ASAP. It makes a huge difference.

I don't even think they sell SD TVs new anymore, so you can get a 720p capable TV for the ballpark price of $140-$150 for the low end models.

I'm plain on a standard def now and it ain't bad. Kind of hard to read the text when choosing your abilities but other than that it's fine. Played Fo3 on a 26" Lcd and that was better but this ok 4 now.
