Star Trek: The Next Generation on Netflix Instant Streaming

Post » Wed Jul 06, 2011 5:52 pm

I watched this show on and off when I was in junior high and high school and then completely forgot about it.

Last week, I learned that all seven seasons have been added to Netflix Instant Streaming, so I watched the pilot episode over the weekend. Now I'm hooked on this show!

It's pretty good and holds up despite some of the quaintly dated special effects.

Anyone else watching this on Netflix now?

Its not just TNG, it should be most of of the Star Trek TV series as per their agreement with CBS (or whom ever owns the rights). They should be available for Instant Steaming for the next 3 years.

Looks like TOS, TNG, VOY, and ENT. No DS9 for now.

I've been watching TNG (though I should watch TOS over again, been years since I've seen them). Hopefully they get DS9 sometime, I haven't had the chance to watch nearly any of that.

I was going to pay for netflix instant streaming but then I saw how they had a rediculously small library of stuff to watch.

sorry to be slightly off topic.

Eh... I guess it depends on what you like. A lot of the movies are "B" (or lower) movies, though even some of those are pretty decent. And there are plenty of "A" movies as well.

As far as television shows, there's plenty that fit what I like, and I feel that $8 a month is a steal.

Star Trek TOS/TNG/Voyager/Enterprise
Star Gate
BSG
Dexter
The IT Crowd
ect etc etc

Netflix has the best library out of any of the various instant streaming services available.

  • Hulu Plus has a much smaller library and not only that but even if you pay $8/month for Hulu Plus, you still have to watch damned commercials! also Hulu Plus 720p is very glitchy. Half the time the sound gets out of sync when streaming 720p videos. I cancelled Hulu Plus.
  • VUDU has a better library, but no monthly subscription service, it is still limited to pay per view and some ridiclous pricing for permanent downloads.
  • MUBI is mostly obscure art films
  • FANDOR is also mostly obscure arthouse and indie films
  • HBO GO is only available if you pay $20/month for basic cable + another $10-20/ month for HBO

OMG, if you have Netflix, you have to check episode S01E22 "The Skin of Evil"

there is an evil creature in this episode but I peed my pants laughing because he sounds EXACTLY LIKE KEVIN FROM "THE OFFICE"

the creature sounds like a complete moron - loved it I think this is my new favorite episode - :lmao:

Not a big fan of Star Trek but much appreciated, I will be watching this just because Patrick Stewart is the best.

Season 3 is the best, be sure to watch it! Almost all the greatest episodes come from that season alone: Who Watches the Watchers, Sins of the Father, Best of Both Worlds (double episode) and Brothers.

Dammit! Of all the Star Treks, Deep Space 9 is the only one that I haven't seen most of, and that's the one they don't have!
