Start of game, what happens if your character is imperial?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:55 am

Iknow most of the other characters get sent to the chop block, but what happens if your an imperial?
Do they release you to watch the execution, or proceed and try to kill you?

To add to this, anyone know if you're a nord character, the imperial treat you different and vice versa?
I ask all this, cause when I play these games, I find it pointless to be what I am a human y'know...

Sadly, this is all too true. And I hate it! With the game like that, the only thing that makes race matter is the tiny skilladvantages and a mostly useless Greater Power. Effects like the Dunmeri Fire Resistance is still very good, but in the long run, races only matter for appearence.
When I have worked on new NPCs in a mod of mine, I have added race specific answers and replies to make it a small difference at least, and it's not hard to do so. Therefore, I'm a bit dissapointed in Beth on this.
Of course, what takes time and money is VA, but they could've at least made some deeper dialogue.

YES! Its terrible when I am playing as a dunmer and go to the grey quarter and they speak to me as if I am not one of them. They should identify.

There almost all the same, just a change in where they're going to send the remains...

I must note that it is very kind of them to offer to send my remains home. That would be expensive and time consuming. Unless Hadvar just says that to make me feel better. :(

I seem to remember they did this in Morrowind as well - referring to you as an outlander even if you were dunmer.

It would be nice if there were more detailed responses to races, but I doubt there would ever be any serious changes to how the game plays (like the OP is asking). And I dont' have a problem with that.

I think it's all the same, with diferent things about were to send your remains. Orsimmer, hammerfell, etc.

I played as a nord in a deleted try.
They say something like
You picked a bad time to come back to skyrim sister/brother.
Officer says execute.
Sorry, we will send your remains back to windhelm/home.
He says he'll send it home or windhelm or some other place.

They're all the same. Same line, race specific why are you here line, we'll send your remains back to ___________.

Yeah, it's weird that the only people who seem to realize you're a dark elf in Windhelm are the Nords. The guy you hear spouting off racist remarks when you first visit the hold, Rolff Stone-Fist, will say something along the lines of, "What do you want, elf?" if you approach him and the innkeeper will tell you to 'move along' when you strike up a conversation. Oh, and the best part? If you beat the living daylights out of Rolff in a brawl, you'll suddenly become his new best friend. My Dunmer mage got sick of hearing him mouth off all the time, so she handed his behind to him on a silver platter and suddenly it was all, "Hey, friend!"

What annoyed me on my orc was finding other orcs in the wild, and being referred to as milk drinker.
And strongholds not calling me a blood brother.

Depends a lot on why you're playing. Race may not make much difference in game-playing, but it makes a hell of a difference in role-playing.

Too bad there's no option, if playing as an Imperial, for the guards to let you play executioner and behead the stormcloaks.

I just hate the "wrong place, wrong time, so you must die" scenario in the beginning, even if you planned on siding with the Empire.

They do mention friendly lines like "welcome brother, please enjoy yourself" and is quite often they end up giving away some gifts to you, also the first time you get into Windhelm that dunmer lady that is being bothered by 2 nords doesn't ask you if you hate the dark elves too... so there are some quotes that lead you to feel welcome on the grey quarter. But I know its not very common, what bothers me is that if youre a vampire, then every racial comments are gone... it just does not make sense to me.

My character is an Imperial, but since she was apprehended for trying to steal a merchant's wagon full of wares and his two horses, the chopping block is exactly where she would have ended up anyway. The soldiers who threw her on the cart knew what they were doing, they just forgot to mention why she was there.

It would be reasonable for the captain to assume that you were a criminal, bandit, Stormcloack sympathizer, etc., regardless of your race if the guards took the trouble to bind your hands and throw you on the cart. In any case, they were about to execute Ulfric frakking Stormcloak. The captain probably would have put her own grandmother on the chopping block just to get to the main attraction.

For the record, the tutorial dungeon, along with every other quest(?), is identical for all races aside from some minor dialog changes. I've played through it with every race/gender combination.

That female captain that's there doesn't care about that, or that your name isn't on the list.

You're with a group of people that are to be executed, therefore you go to the block.

You're a long way from the Imperial City. What are you doing in Skyrim?

... 'Kay, goodbye citizen, we're going to execute you now.

So let's see if I get this right for those of you who think it's strange that Imperials would kill an Imperial. Are you trying to say that no country ever kills their own people? Hmmmmm.

Yeah, it would be perfectly understandable for guards to give someone who'd been arrested an axe and let them behead someone just because they kind of look the same.

I think having different starts for different races would just lead to complaints over lack of freedom. Multiple starting points would be fun, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that happening int he ES, apart from in mods.

Forget the List! He Get's the Block!

and I'd imagine Nords aren't treated differently by Imperials either since there are a lot of Nords within the Imperial Legion as well

This is still not a valid excuse.

Bethesda = Multi-million dollar developement firm. (And we're talking about the hundreds of millions, not the tens of millions.)
