Starting a Vampire early?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 2:57 pm

Not such a good idea... if you were to become a vampire straight after escaping helgen, then you're pretty much fked throughout the main quest. Why? Dragons. That's why. Vampires may be partially immune to frost, but when it comes to fire. You gon die.

What are YOUR opinions?

I have a breton mage who is level 23 and I decided not to become a vampire yet. I'm only up to the part after you get Lydia in the main quest. I venture around alot, and level up my skills to level up fast. I want to become a vampire for the new DLC, as my main Assassin/thief Nord is going to be apart of the Dawnguard.

If you become a vampire right after escaping helgan and your a dunmer your pretty good as they have a resist fire 50% racial ability

True true, but I really don't want to create a new mage xP I might just finish up the main quest line and then straight onto a vampire in preparation for the dlc :3

I've never even made a vampire before, so this should be interesting.

Solution: Don't do the main quest and no dragon problems.

Offensive/destruction vampire. Altmer,Lord Stone. destruction, illusion(silent casting perk) sneak.
This will alow you to blast targets from the shadows without being detected

Necromaster Vampire. Breton. Atronach Stone Alteration, Conjuration, Illusion(control spells)
Why fight when you can make others do it for you? Sit back as your powerful vampiricly boosted ilusions make your foes fight eachother before bringing the dead under your sway!

You're a mage right? Use wards, magic armor spells and enchantments on gear, should work perfectly and keep you safe against Dragons.

I love being a Vampire because of Dragons. It strikes fear into my heart when I see one. If they breath Frost, I laugh at them. They breath fire? I run away like the little Imperial I am.

My problem is that I created this Vampire for the purpose of being a Vampire Lord. I made it so early that I need to stop playing her or I will run out of Questlines to do. I already did the Thieves Guild and most of the Dark Brotherhood. Now I am just going to become Thane everywhere and play my DiD character until Dawnguard comes out.

Hahaha I had made an imperial in order for a vampire, she suited a more warrior-like gal. So I went back to my little Breton :3 I love playing as a Mage more than I did with my assassin. I spose I'll become a vamp, and just increase my Conjuration like crazy. It's already level 80 ^_^

Spellbreaker+Ward Absorb perk.. the shield has a permenent ward when blocking. with the perk, any spell that hits spellbreakers ward helps restore your magicka. tested it myself.

Why not simply have a fire resist gear for dragon fights? As a mage you should be enchanting anyway...

Makes the game more fun. You actually panic when a Dragon sees you. Will it be a Fire one that could kill you with one breath? Or will it be a frost one that can hardly damage you? It makes it harder, especially on the Expert and Master difficulties. It adds more life to the game.

No problem, just a word of caution though, don't take any of the weapon enchantment perks or the perks on the right, only take the enchantment perks that are in the middle. The rest are pretty useless to a mage.

If you put Perks into Enchanting and get it all the way to 100, you can get yourself a 100 percent resist to fire while wearing the armor. So even when you get to Blood Starved level, you will have regular resistance. And for the second enchantment you could give yourself some Regen on Magic and Health.

I thought it was far better than Oblivion and Morrowind had done.

Umm no.. Morrowind had actual vampire clans and quests you could do for them. Each was a small disfunctional family. Skyrim won't have that until the DLC, and in Oblivion vampires were almost pointless outside of much enjoyed roleplaying.

Only problem with Morrowind vampires was that they can't blend into society.

Lesser ward blocks all shouts. Dragon breath attacks are shouts. See where I'm going with this?

dragon breath are actualy hyped up flame and frost spells. the shout is when you see this big ball of fire or frost rolling at you from the dragon.
Rather then wait for it to use breath attacks, stun it with a dual cast destruction spell. Lightning Storm is fantasic for flat out knocking dragons out of the sky if you can cast it.
