Steam = Fail

I didn't know Steam was required to install Skyrim. If I had I wouldn't have bought the game, regardless of its worth. Bad Bethesda! I will not buy any more of your games if they are tied to Steam.

Have fun playing the games you have now. In a couple years, the only new games available will likely come from online distributors with DRM abilities.

It's printed on the box, inside a red box because red has meant a sign of danger/warning for a few thousand years.

REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION AND FREE STEAM ACCOUNT TO ACTIVATE

What's wrong with Steam? I first got it when I installed Civilization 5 and I have never regreted getting Steam once. You don't have to do boot it online, you know, and I got Oblivion and Shivering Isle and all the other DLC for it for $25, and I experienced 0 problems compared to playing my original copy without Steam (which had like 50 problems). The best part is the fact you don't need a disk to play the games through Steam and if you log onto another computer, you can download the games you already got for free onto that computer and use your save files from the other computer.

And that'll svck. :shrug:

(Yeah, I bought like 8 games during the Steam winter sale. Doesn't mean I think that "forced online" should really be the way for the industry to go. And certainly not in the short term, while many people don't have cheap/reliable/etc broadband access.)

What's wrong with Steam?

One obvious example would be when Steam forced us* all to upgrade to Skyrim 1.1 & 1.2, even though they screwed up stuff. The difficulties rolling back to 1.0 so that we could play the game again are also on the list.

(* yeah, we'd checked "don't automatically update". It ignored that, and did it anyway. And "just stay offline" doesn't work.... because, you're right - Steam has some good features. Like sales. And updating other games, that actually got improvements from their patches. So switching to offline to keep one game from shooting itself in the foot means you're suddenly locked out from all the other features. :shrug:)

Whats wrong with Steam? I never had problems with it...

Now - Origin....for Battlefield 3, I don't like. It just doesn't feel right browsing an IE for servers to join, then my game is minimized when I join a server. I don't like change!

Glad I already got my collectors editions in then, should make them worth more once things are digital only.
