Steam Statistics

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 12:25 pm

I don't know if anyone watches the game statistics on Steam, but I do..

Skyrim has totally dominated the #1 spot since it's release.

Check it out daily as I have done. http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

What I find find amazing is that Oblivion is still in the top 100...

Check out MW3 single player... it's dead in the water...

I see GSTAFF has commented on the upcoming release of the CK!! Thanks Bethesda and GSTAFF for keeping us in the loop...

On a side note, I played the demo for Reckoning... aka ..... Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.... Not a bad first shot, but doesn't hold a candle to Skyrim.. Sad.. as I hoped they might produce a decent RPG... It's not.. IMO... ( I know.. it's not a humble opinion!)....

While my playing of skyrim has declined, it's only due to the fact that we don't have the CK yet...

I'm' looking forward to tweaking the game to MY desire..

Thanks!

That may be, but will it blend?

Be interesting to watch from an objective standpoint.

With the CK being released through Steam, I'd imagine it will stay in the top 5 at least for some time.

*edit*

KOA was a bust for me as well.

I was disappointed in KOA as I'd hoped that someone would set a higher bar.. Sadly, it seems everything that EA (Electronic Arts) touches falls apart. Look at the tragedy that has befallen Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect.... Sad.... I loved those franchises and EA has totally destroyed them.. I'm casting my lot with Bethesda as the last great RPG gaming company.

Well that's not very surprising for a heavily scripted rollercoaster ride that expands the definition of "linear gameplay". It takes like what, 4 hours? I think the multiplayer would be a fairer comparison ;)

Maybe, but it's not fair to compare Skyrim single player to MW3 multiplayer, they are on different formats. Even IF you wan't to do so, Skyrim still blows away MW3 Multiplayer. I've watched it since their release and Skyrim totally dominates the numbers. The facts are the facts... can't change the facts no matter how much some would like to do so.

I'm rather pleased that Skyrim dominates, as it is a testimony to the work Bethesda has done....

Keep in mind... Bethesda hasn't sold out to EA like so many others..... They are one of the last bastions of independence...

With a CK coming, it could provide many years of entertainment, while MW3 will be in the garage sale in the spring.

Fallout NV is still on the top 20 on steam..... Check it out...

KOA wasn't that bad. I had some fun and I felt like I need more than 45 mins for this game. The magic was fun and stuff. Not as good as Skyrim though. I think I like Skyrim better but, I'll give KOA a shot.

I was going to maybe replace Skyrim with Reckoning as the Im not keen on the gameplay here. Ill be looking forward to some reviews of that game. Maybe skyrim has the better world, Reckoning better gameplay?

Keep in mind there are KoA and COD topics in Community Discussion if you want to discuss other games.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not in favor of anything related to the Modern Warfare franchise. In fact my description of MW3's campaign was a jab in itself. But I think you're attaching too much value to popularity, remember that games such as Call of Duty were once great and competitive games played across internet cafes and in tournaments and highly respected, then as they gained more attention and became mainstream it devolved into the crap it is today. I fear that Bethesda may very well head into the same direction - aiming to please the mainstream crowds and sacrificing the game's spirit in the process, something of which we can already see signs (even if relatively minor, with the total transition from quest journal to markers being the main example) in Skyrim.

I'm happy that such a great series received the recognition it deserves, though. All we can do is hope Bethesda keeps it together and doesn't give into the temptations of easy money.
