Oh Steam, why you so silly?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 9:38 pm

Normally I like Steam, usually I don't have that many problems. However the whole steam workshop idea clearly was a bad one, if of course I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I went to launch Skyrim today and it crashed on the launcher. It keeps getting stuck at synchronizing subscribed mods. I go to look at the workshop and the service is unavailable. So I can not play Skyrim until the workshop is back online. That's a little ridiculous. Is anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?

Nope, but if I was I'd be pissed.

Hope you get it fixed.

Starting the game directly renders the availability of the workshop moot, go the instal directory of skyrim and start the game using TESV.exe instead of the default SkyrimLauncher.exe
SKSE also directly starts the game if you are using it for mods.

It's little more then an inconvenience really.

A lot of people using certain mods they are subscribed to have this issue. You can check the Skyrim steam forums on a couple of solutions.

The one that fixed it for me is... Right click on Skyrim, click properties then local files and verify integrity of game cache. Crashing stopped for me after this.

Edit: doing so will reset your settings though.

if you do this I suggest backing up your ini files, as they seem to reset when you do this.
