When logging in, check "remember password", then try again.

Did Steam update? Seems like a while back I had a similar problem and it had to do with an update, but I don't remember what the solution was.

It is an issue with Steam, many people are reporting this same issue that started yesterday. As it is a Holiday today I would not expect this to be fixed until Thursday or Friday.

Remember...cloud computing is :devil:

It's times like this that I'm glad I'm still using patch 1.5. I was thinking about moving to 1.6 but...I think I'll wait a few more days. Or weeks.

:EDIT:: Or years.

Could be related to the big fires, storm, power outs?
There is also a huge solar storm going on now as well.

Bottom line is with cloud computing I now have double the chance of things going wrong when I want to use a program. Power out (or other issue) on my side, power out (or other issues) on their side. :dry:

I have had no end of recurring often random problems with steam. I freaking hate the thing, yet am begrudgingly forced to use it. It realy angers me that I'm forced to load a 3rd party program to play a game I bought in a store. Steam is a resource pincher too.
