Steamworks Question

Post » Sat Sep 24, 2011 3:42 am

Hi Guys,

I use the Valve Steam service, I am not looking to purchase
via digital download because of the 25Gb d/l.

Will the retail boxed version still fully integrate into my existing steam account?

This is important because all my friends use steam, and steamworks will
allow for easy co-op games. Just wish to make sure the retail box
will allow for this.

Thanks,
Anthony

This game does not just support steam - this game REQUIRES STEAM - wether or not will it use all Steamworks services we have no idea - not all steamworks services maybe just a few like anti-cheat but i don't care i never needed any steamworks services like clouds.

I don't know if there is a proprietary choice - but i don't care about steam-achivements or anything. Basically i want to play Rage with as little as Steam interference as possible.

It will most probably use steam services for multiplayer given that there is no major mulitplayer focus on rage an thus no integrated choice.

Yes, any game that uses Steamworks will have to be activated and therefore stored in your Steam library. So, if you get the game delivered early via an online retailer you will still have to wait for the 7th to play the game along with the people who purchased it digitally.

This is good in my view as it means that retailers tend to send them out early so you at least know you have your copy rather than having it come later the next week.
