Still finding new things

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 7:04 pm

I have created a multitude of characters with a cumulative play time numbering over a thousand hours and today was the first time I had someone challenge me to a wizard duel. It was very unexpected. I love that I am still finding things after all this time. Just thought I would share.

That still hasn't happened to me. Probably because I don't have a pure mage and my only battlemage is a level 15. Can people challenge you to a regular duel?

Happened to me last night. I played in character so I cheated. I had one follower that I buffed with Courage, then conjured a Frost Atronach, buffed myself up, conjured a sword and used a Ward in my shield hand when needed. Just kept darting in and out to take swipes at him in the back. It was funny hearing him complain that it wasn't a fair match, that it should have been just between me and him... but my mage is an evil, self-serving mage who nibbles on human flesh when he can find it... he doesn't give a damn about the Marquess of Queensberry.

It always makes me laugh when he complains that it's supposed to be a MAGIC duel.

Bound Swords ARE magic! What are you complaining about?

Sometimes I feel as if I haven't even scratched the surface of the game yet. :) I just noticed the other day a line of ants marching across a large tree stump. It's not much, I know, but it is some nice eye candy I've never noticed in the 100's of hours I've so far played. I also once dropped an unneeded arrow in a Stormcloak camp and one of the soldiers returned it to my inventory saying I dropped it, and advising me how I was lucky he'd found it because someone else may have kept it. Nice touch!

I'd been playing probably 150 hours before I noticed those Ants, and had I not stopped to sharpen my blade before an assassination I doubt very much I would have noticed them at all.

I'm at about 210 hours now, and only just found Meeko the dog. Had him follow me for a while, but he got killed, so I reloaded and sent him home. I might get him again, as I like dogs, but never when I go into battle. (I wish I could tell him to stay in Whiterun, he'd like it there.)

And amazingly, I've only just met Puurtharnax (sp?) as well. That was a long-winded first meeting...it was just before dawn when I made it up to the Throat of the World, and easily gone lunch by the time he'd stopped talking. (In-game hours I'm talking about of course.)

Still amazes me really when I'm finding new things after playing for so long. Gripes aside, this is by far the best game I've ever played.
