This freezing issue can't be fixed with a patch. It's the game engine in relation to the PS3 hardware that is at fault.
It's like patching a massive arterial bleeding with a small Hansaplast bandage.
Patching can only fix minor issues. I think you're better off without a patch, it only makes things worse.
Since I switched to PC after I experienced the freeze fest called: FO3GoTY, I'm much more zen now.
Better loading times, no more freezes and no more nervous breakdowns.
Sorry to break it to you this game engine simply isn't cut out for the PS3.
*edit* Not saying that playstation svcks, O' contrair! The game code for this platform svcks!
Have experienced the same thing...
I had more PS3 crashes with this
game than any other game I've
played so far on my new PS3...
Returned PS3 version and now only play PC..
It works quite well on my PC.. I've had very few crashes.. a few microsutters, a bit
of slowdown when around groups of NPCs, a few monsters getting stuck in terrain...
these are things I can live with without ruining the game for me...
other than that it's working fine..
I have not allowed any patches to be installed from steam... I leave steam in offline
mode all the time... heck, my gaming PC isn't even connected to internet... and
since it's working now, I figure why fix it right??? BTW, I also have numerous
community-created mods that modify the game and it still works just fine..
