I compulsively save, so the one or two times that I've lost a companion have only svcked a few minutes out of my game.
Also, if you think you're in a svck-boat as far a patches, my Xbox isn't even connected to Live; can't get capable connections in my Neighborhood unless via satellite, which is out of my price-range. In short, I don't have a single patch, and have had very little trouble with the game. I'm not calling you a whiner, just saying that it's not that bad, and cold be much worse.
Hijacking this thread for a minute
The Snow Dog – Have a few ideas on how you might be able to connect.
If you have cell service and a PC/Laptop, you can tether your phone to the PC/Laptop to use the cell network to connect to the Internet. Once you have done this, use Windows Internet Connection Sharing (assuming you are on Windows) to share this connection to either your wired network or your wireless network that your Xbox is hooked to. In this model, your PC/Laptop will act as a gateway and will enable you to hit Live.
A similar option would be to tether your Xbox directly to your cell phone. I haven’t done this myself but I have read that other people are making this work.
Gogetae110 – I lost my companions before. Here are some things that I did to figure out where the hell they were.
1 – Open the last save you had where the companions were with you. Look at your active quest, notes, inventory, and discovered map locations.
2 – Open the save right after the save in step 1.
3 – Look at the active quests. Did they change? Did you complete a quest between the save points? If so figure out the locations involved in the finished quest(s) and go there to look for your companions. Maybe you left one of them there. This is exactly how I found Ed-E and Veronica when I lost them.
4 – Look at your notes. Anything new? If so, where did you get it from? Maybe the companions are there or in a location close to “there”.
5 – Look at inventory. Any new unique items that might lead you to a location you were at and maybe left your companions?
6 – Are there any locations you discovered between the saves? Go to these and look for your companions.
Hope some of this helps. If I am not wrong, this was also a problem in Fallout 3 and it wasn’t addressed, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for a patch.
