Stormcall Shout

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:30 pm

Just got this one, and gave it a run on my practice ground just outside of Whiterun.

For anyone who hasn't got it yet, don't make the mistake I did and test it around people...it doesn't make you very popular...

Reload time type unpopular....

One more reason to the pile of reasons why you should never use shouts

When you learn all 3 words of that shout it's damn good way to take dragons down :D But then again it tends to hit friendly targets too... :D

Aside from constant friendly fire, shouts can turn the tides of any battle and transform it into beating a guy on the groud to death. Which is pretty much boring.

It's pretty much your own fault if you shout and there is friendly fire (and a lot of the shouts can't have friendly fire, i.e. slow time). Companions walking into crossfire is siruational and can happen with any sort of attack, even melee. Only unrelenting force knocks down your enemy and beating him whiles hes on the ground is not boring for all (and you're not forced too use it anyway). Hardly seems like a long list to me.

Yes, it's pretty much my own fault I end up not using shouts because I can hit friendlies.

I'm not touching the main quest though, so it's not a big deal since I don't even have any dragon souls to spend.

So friendly NPC's should be completely immune to shouts. They're just like spells, so of course if you're not careful you'll hit friendlies, but it's not impossible by any means to avoid NPC's when shouting.

No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying shouts are overkill.

LOL i remember when i first used stormcall like it was yesterday (more like 2 weeks ago..)
I was at a Stormcloak camp just chilling when i heard a big dragon roar. When i saw the dragon i used stormcall and guess what? Every stormcloak died, as did my companion, but the [censored]inging dragon still had a bunch of health. :o

Storm Call is the reason why i don't use companions anymore. A fort or a camp in the middle of nowhere is a prime target for Storm Call. Try it at Lost Valley Redoubt for example :shocking:

Also for fighting a dragon alone, Marked for Death (even with just two words the effect lasts longer than the shout's cooldown) followed by Storm Call kills a (unprefixed) dragon by itself.

If your storm-call shout tends to go beyond control, use the Clear Skies shout to dismiss the effects of Storm Call.

Roleplaying-wise, I like to use it to showoff my awesome power.....after I made sure my Lydia is somewhere safe. :P

I've made my companions essential just for this reason.
They always ened up dead when i used that shout.

Friendly fire, huh. I knew there was another reason, apart from the rp, why Animal Allegiance and Kyne's peace were my favourite shouts. Only ones to get killed are those giants who suddenly decide you are an enemy for no apparent reason, then find out exactly what that feels like via the medium of mammoth attack.

Good idea otherwise, but Storm Call's cooldown is 300, 480 and 600 seconds. That is, 5, 8 and 10 minutes. Amulet of Talos shortens them to 240, 384 and 480, but those are still much longer than the effect lasts.
