StormcloakImperial victory lore-wise

I was wondering, the Skyrim Civil War outcome would be a major moment in Tamrielic history, so I was wondering how the offical lore would handle it. I mean, if you are given two options for an individual quest, say, helping or hurting an old lady, those kinds of details are unimportant enough to ignore when takling about hte history of Tamriel, but the Skyrim Civil War? You can't just gloss over that. I mean, if you look up any war in recorded history, you will know the outcome, its not like details like that are ever ambiguous.

I hope Stormcloack but who knows I'm sure they will find a way to cop out and appease both sides.

I think in the beginning of TES VI it will ask us to choose what happened in Skyrim.

I mean it's not like the CoC just vanished from history after his role in Oblivion.

You can easily gloss over the civil war. In the end a large force of troops lead by Dovahkiin emerged from skyrim to take the fight to the thalmor. Easily done by either side.

There was a thread on this a while back. General concencus : doesn't matter for the history books who won if a later event over shadows the outcome. Thalmor invasion regardless of who one, Elisif and (in case of his death, a relative of) Ulfric in a political marriage to prevent a second civil war, humanity turning back to Talos worship despite an Imperial victory.

We won't know until all the DLC is out and assuming there'll be a Thalmor DLC the Empire and Stormcloaks would ally (+ The Redguards, Bretons etc) against the Thalmor.

Thats the thing, this is a really difficult cop out. Go to UESP, go to the lore page, it is really detailed, I mean, really detailed. Game of thrones/Lord of the rings history detailed. If they provided only a general overview of world history, and TES VI was 500 years from now, yeah, they could ignore that, but the history of Tamriel is too well recorded to just forget about a Civil War.

The only cop out I could think of is that in a DLC, Thalmor invade, they destroy imperials/stormcloaks but are ultimatly repelled. That way, they could say that the victors of the Civil war were victorious for such a short period of time that it is difficult to know who won.

Yes, but are the troops nords or imperials, again, this is an important detail which historians would be aware of.

Well, if TES VI were set in Elswyer, the outcome wouldn't matter, so yeah, I see your point, but still, people would know who won, it would be on the lore page

The lore isn't set in stone. Every book has an author, and those authors aren't necessarily interested in the truth; personal bias, professional rivalry, religious dogma, political machinations and plain old jingoism all have a hand in Tamriel's telling of events.

TES history has always been remarkably vague. We don't really know if Tiber Septim really was Tiber Septim(Or was he Wulfharth? Or was he Zurin Arctus?)

There are several accounts on what happened in Daggerfall. There's the warp in the west, where no one knows what happened except people that played Daggerfall and could surmise that all endings happened at the same time.

There's the betrayal of Nerevar by Dagoth Ur. Or was it Dumac and the Dwemer? Or was it the Tribunal?

Heck even recent pieces like The Bear of Markarth are filled with such inaccuracies it's hard to take them seriously. (Granted that one is a blatant propaganda piece designed to absolve the empire of wrongdoing in the events that transpired)

Yea totally possible Ulfrics death and Tallius' death could be over shadowed by the rise of the dragon born and dragons

The Empire contains Nord soldiers and the Stormcloaks may contain those Imperials who would rather be led by Ulfric than Mede. If you do the civil war quest line you'll know that the enemy encampments still exists and the reason for this is so that the Lore books can say an allied force would defeat the Thalmor.

Also interesting because i do see the random Argonian and redguards going to join the Stormcloaks could be a mistake or done on purpose.

There ain't going to be any Thalmor invasion. If Imperials win WGC will be upheld. If Ulfric wins, Skyrim is no longer part of the empire, so WGC does not apply. If anything it will be the warmongers of Skyrim taking the fight to the Thalmors.

A possibility that may be utilized is that of a draw. The Civil War quests are faction quests. What makes "official lore" is the main quest. The main quest has the player act as a diplomat and trade a hold. An "offficial" lore re-counting could simply trade a hold or even leave the situation as it stood at the beginning of Elder Scrolls V Skyrim with the Empire controlling more areas than the Stormcloaks.

My bet is that the Empire is disintegrating. Victory or defeat against the Stormcloak uprising may slow or accelerate the process, but looking a few decades ahead, it will make little difference.

If Bethesda are a little shrewd, they may count how many players finish the Civil War with Stormcloak victory and how many finish with Imperial victory and use the majority as the "lore" result.

Last poll I saw favored the Empire.

I think the best way they can do is to make the CW outcome trivial. Either way there will be a war and men must unite if they want to fight back the Dominion. It doesn't matter if it will be the Empire or Allied Forces of Men - or w/e you wanna call it.

Lol some how I think the Nazi Thamor will attempt to invade after all they want to wipe the world of all but themselves.

This wont really work as I think most did both to see the outcome.

Yea I'm thinking the rise of the Dragon Born overshadows it all.

Doubt it as past games show they wrap up the main stuff by the end of it all and I think they left the main game as is because the dlc will continue on that same story.
