Awhile back before I got ticked about this and quit playing, I installed a couple mods. One of which did this. I uninstalled all mods and it still did this. I verified game cache and nothing changed. I quite playing and forgot about it, installed some new mods again and went "Oh yeah, I forgot about that." Tried to fix it again and there doesnt seem to be any reason this should be happening, game cache is re-verified, and all mods are deactivated except the dlc, skyrim itself, adn the update plugin.

I would give a load order but its not even discussed in nexus mod manager's load order. Besides most of the mods I use are subscribed via steam workshop nowadays.

What AMD driver are you using? I think 12.2 and 12.3 are known to cause this.

Also, does it do this with a Save either from before you installed the mod or a new game?

However, the 12.2/12.3 drivers for AMD/ATI are borked, use the 12.1 if you are not already.

I cnat say what AMD version I'm using since I'm on a different computer right now but, I know either I'm using a amd videocard and a intel processor or the other way around. probably amd video card. and this does this with a new game so a guy in my computer information technology class said it was probably my video card when I discussed it with him as well. Thanks for the fast replies, I'll try to find out how to use 12.1 instead and see if that works.

I should mention that this issue hadnt start happening until after a certian moment awhile back. I'm trying to think whether or not it was just after I had updated my videocard drivers up to 12.3 and I just cant remember. That would make sense, but I didnt really pay attention to driver numbers until now.

Edit: Just one last thing, I dont really know how to rollback to 12.1 except by finding my videocard in my device manager. Would that be the correct way to do it?

So I guess I rollback my drivers for, copy and pasting: ATI Radeon HD 5570 to 12.1 beta or whatever?

My driver version is 8.950.0.0 So maybe I need to update my drivers instead...

Go to your control panel, then programs.

Uninstall AMD Catalyst.

Reboot your pc.

Download and install AMD 12.1 Preview driver.

Fixed :)

I had this same problem, a few days ago. Tried everything you tried. Eventually I realized AMD had just updated it's video driver for the Radeon card. I downloaded and reinstalled the previous drives, and the problem disappeared. I installed the driver's from january 2012.

Don't know if that's your problem. But it looks the same as your problem. Grey specks everywhere. If it's not your video drivers, it must be related somehow to my video problem.

Maybe when they release 12.4, they'll include some changes that will hopefully prevent this issue from ocurring.

Maybe 12.21.12 version will fix it :P (or divide by 0 and end the world....of Nirn). I use the official 12.1 prior to that was using the 12.1 preview seemed the same to me on my 69xx series card if not a little better than the preview. If you have an older series card I trust BigDaddy's word so stick with the preview/beta/w.e for older series cards as they were pretty much the same in regards to Skyrim. I noticed marked improvements in other games mostly DX11 that the preview had caused some issues with so if your focus is Skyrim the preview does the job.

Where can we get the 12.1 preview drivers? I have an ATI 6850, so should I use 12.1 preview or the official 12.1?

Go to AMD.com and there will be a search bar in the top corner where you type in what your looking for and go from there. IF your card is really old, apparently the preview version is better, mine isnt but it doesnt make much difference to me and I'm lazy so I'll just stick with the preview drivers for now. At least, until I get around to getting the full 12.1 version.

Hey moderators how about a sticky involving AMD drivers? Do your job(role,w/e).....don't care if you don't get paid get on it.
@ OP 12.1 preview or official I tire of this so just anyone with AMD issues(that popped up lately) feel free to PM here and I will help you that way.

Don't be a rude git! They don't sticky every issue that arises. They'd have pages upon pages upon pages of stickies. There is a search bar for a reason.

Over 10 posts regarding this in the past week if not more.....Moderators offering the same advice which is what a sticky is for. Novice forum users will not dig ten pages or even read threads so if you want less duplicate topics learn to forum. Stickies can be deleted go on Eidos forums for an example of how support should be run.

The only reason I made the thread, was because I didnt know how to properly describe the display issue I was having, and when I tried googling this to the best of my ability nothing came up about it, again because I didnt know what to describe it as. It wasnt because I dont look at threads, it was because I didnt know exactly WHAT the issue was in the first place.

Here is my point if you got to the DX HR forums for instance there is a sticky for every major issue(AMD's newest drivers not working with the game would be considered that). I mean a non locked non post limit sticky that allows the topic to be contained in one thread as opposed to scattered about. This is efficiency and the whole post can be deleted at a later date by a moderator when the issue is no longer....well an issue. A title like this should suffice: Artifacting/Graphical Issues with ATI Cards (stickied and thus always near the top of the page). I had an issue post release went there and solved it in no time flat when it comes to the Skyrim boards it is a soup of replicate posts of known issues that Bethesda or even the moderators(far as I know they don't even work for Bethesda) if they actually frequent this section of the boards (most important when you just sold a new game with the ridiculous sys requirements that you put on the back of the box on top of that) should be aware of. I see moderators using this elitist attitude about double posts etc. but to expect everyone who is playing a single player game on the PC to know the in's and out's or even spend and hour on the forums is foolish. A or B have a noob forum full of double posts or do your job make a sticky and save yourself the work.

Wll another issue is the fact that people create these accounts on forums to ask questions that could be a sticky, and we rarely think to check for a search topic thing, so maybe if we could add a line to the email verification page that says if you created an account to ask for help to search the forums via the search option provided. Or at least do something to that effect it might make oblivious users (such as myself, heh heh, woops!) think to check for a related forum in more ways than just googling the issue. Unfortunately, we never think to check when we log into a forums for this type of thing.

Sure people would slip through the cracks but the mods come in every other Thursday and merge topics with this gruff attitude which is hilarious since board management here is poor to say the least. Aside that I apologize to you users for my off topic rant :P

Also got the grey particles after updating drivers. Reverting to 12.1 fixed the issue.
