Strange noises indoor?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 1:06 pm

Like its a poltergeist. Very distracting. Now i know its caused by collision detection? going crazy with vsync off. The question is is there a fix available w/o turning it back on? Well, w/o going below 60fps again. Thanks.

Turn vSync on or cap your FPS. If you're that desperate about a perfect framerate then cap it to 59fps.

If you want vsync off still but want the collisions to stop, try this:

Thanks guys. Im not desperate for framerate, but vsync drops me to 30fps often and thats annoying. Anyhow. The latest nVidia driver has a build-in fps limiter!!

I truly can't imagine how vsync often drop the game to 30fps if you are regularly pulling over 60fps normally without it. This really baffles me.

Try vSync with forced Triple Buffering from a program such as D3DOverrider (included with RivaTuner). You pretty much have the same FPS as without vSync just without the screen tearing.

Also, try capping your FPS to a lower value. 60fps to 30fps is very noticeable. If you constantly play at 35fps by capping it for example, you don't notice the drop.

By default Skyrim enables V-Sync so you have to force it off by the driver or command.

Mostly Indoors vs outdoors. Outdoors is pretty much an open end for being a performance sink heh.

this isn't just the ambient prattle that's in all of the indoor areas?

No, I think he's talking about the crashing and banging sounds that can happen when the lack of vsync, or other things, have messed with time/space. It sounds like someone is ransacking your home with with a sledgehammer.

just wanted to say, all worked out excellently. Limited FPS to 59 in driver and installed skybooster. The results are pretty much unbelievable. Going through the beginning vanilla i even had drops into 40s. Now a stable 59. It dropped to 57 maybe once. Mouse lag is completely gone. In fact it was so heavy before, i thought it was a feature. You know, where one uses the crosshair to look around, and keyboard buttons to move the actual weapon.

And crazy sounds are gone too.
