Strange problem with object elevation when dragging them int

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 4:13 am

Whenever I drag an object into the renderer, its Z coordinate will always be higher than the object I had dragged in before. For example, I would drag in one object which will be at Z coordinate 1472 and then drag in a different object (same objects do not have this problem) which will be at coordinate 1536.

It's really tedious to have to go into the editor to manually change every object to elevation 0. How can I standardize the elevation of all the objects when I drag them in?

The objects appear at the location of your cursor and since it's impossible to position the cursor accurately in 3d space then there isn't much you can do.

You can use the Reference Snap tool AFAIK, or you can just drag the NEW item onto the PREVIOUS item in the render window, this places it at the same Z level (new functionality of the CK).

Where's the reference snap tool located? And I am watching episode 2 of the tutorial and the guy doesn't seem to have any problems placing his objects at similar elevations. Also, dragging new objects onto old ones doesn't seem to do anything.

This seems to have worked; now when I place an object over an object already at Z:0 it snaps to that elevation. tyvm!

Ohhhh, so that's what I need to do. I was having the same problem when making the simple Nordic room.
I haven't gotten that far yet in the wiki tutorial to see snap-to function.
Thank-you Qazaaq for the link.
And thanks Topster88 for making this topic, otherwise I wouldn't of found out about this snap-to function this early.
