If I manage to scraqe together 2000 caps so I can get into thr strip without getting :flamethrower: :slap: :bomb_ie: :nuke: :starwars: ( the last one was pretty random, I admit) by the securitrons, is it a one time thing, or do I have to always have 2000 caps on me to get in.

No, just once.
How'd you make it to Vegas without at least 2000 caps, though? Not a big looter?

I had about a thousand, but I blew it at the gun runers, tricked out my 9 mm and servise rifle though.

Okay. I understand. They got a lot of my money, too.
If you're open to suggestions, you might want to go hunting Fiends to the south and west of Vegas. If you're careful (they can be tough), their gear can sell for pretty good $. Shouldn't take too long and you'll probably get a level out of it as well.

You can actually get into the strip for free a couple of ways. No matter how you get in though, once you're in, you're good to go.

You can also use the mono-rail at camp McCarran, if it hasn't gone BOOM yet..

I don't think you're paying a fee. You're passing a credit-check.

Buy fake passport from Ralph for 300 caps?

Surely you have 300 caps. I usually rack up like 12,000 by the time I hit Freeside.

I believe it's 500 caps if you pass either a speech or barter check.
But I found it very easy to just take the monorail from McCarren Camp if you're friendly with NCR.

You need to use up your favour with the King to get Ralph to sell you the fake passport. There alot better uses of the King's favour then that.

Always enter the Strip for "free". Never spend caps for a passport or anything else. Never waste a King favor.

Yeah, you're not paying anything. It's just a credit check to keep poor people out.

I'm still debating this one. I probably will join since it's the only way to join ... and all other favors have another way to do them without the Kings help.

its just a one time credit check (if you have 2k or over they let you by). it is not a fee you keep the caps when you enter. Or if you have a high science skill you can just program the robot to let you in. The other option is doing the kings quest and he can give you a passport, but I think that it is better just to take the money from him as he give you 1k and then just get a little mroe and you will be up to 2k. If you have high luck you can just gamble in the atomic wrangler and easily make the money in a few mins.

It usually is the last hurdle you will ever have to jump with money. After that, you usually find you have way too much money from selling things you find in the wasteland and never really buying anything.

The Casinos do have a limit as to how much they will let you win and then they ban you.

I'm currently carrying over 130,000 caps. Where are those caravan players. I guess they've heard I never lose a hand.

Most players:
*Check Pip-Boy* "Damn! I don't have 2K caps!" *Try to find 2K caps*

Me:
*Check Pip-Boy* "Damn! I don't have 2K caps!" *player.additem F 2000" "Hehehehe..."

In all seriousness, some good ways to make caps are:
? Hunting Fiends, as they carry a load of valuable energy weapons and chems.
? *Oopsy-daisy* letting the Silver Rush get blown up and selling the plasma crap, uh, 'cause nobody needs it anymore do they?.
? Get a Survival skill of 65+, grab 4 Golden Gecko hides, 8 Turpentine, and 4 White Horsenettle and go to a fire. MAD profit.
? Find one of the many, many, many, MANY corpses with epic gear and take it. Example - brave some invisible Nightstalkers in the cave near Jacobstown and you can find a unique Super Sledge called Oh, Baby! Sells for 6200 caps =D

Every way into the strip is free, one just requires you prove you have the money to gamble.

Rinse -- Wait three days -- Repeat

Do that a few times and you'll have more energy weapons than the Van Graffs.
