I'm stuck as a Vampire in Dawnguard, cannot obtain cure. Hel

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 9:11 pm

I'm a level 34 Redguard and noticed too late that I had the vampire symptoms. I wasn't infected after completing the final dawnguard mission, and yes, I had retrieved my soul gem b4 leaving the soul cairn. At the point I noticed, Cure Disease potions and Shrines were of no help. I tried getting a mission to see Fallion from almost every bartender in Skyrim - Solitude, Whiterun, Falkreath, Morthal, Riften, etc - but been totally unsuccessful. If I approach Fallion w/o having the mission, I'm not given any conversation option re commenting on him being an expert on vampires, so I cannot request a cure of him. Based on my status, I'm figuring I'm at level four, been at this same level for well over a week: When I go outside, I get the message that my vampire blood boils; I have 50% weakness to fire, and H/M/S are reduced by 60 points in sunlight; I also have the powers embrace shadows, vampire seduction, and vampire servant. As I stated, this has been the status for over a week in actual time and over a month in Skyrim time. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I don't want to revert to an old save, too much time had passed b4 I noticed that I had symptoms. UPDATE: strange thing is that even though I'm supposedly at level 4, I do not get attacked by citizens for being a vampire, and I do not get the option to feed if I interact with a sleeping NPC. Weird.

This might help; go back to Fort Dawnguard and try to get a quest from one of the leaders. They won't give you one until you cure yourself of vampirism, therefore giving you the quest for it.

Talk to an innkeeper and they will give you a rumor of some wizard in mortal who has studied vampires and he'll cure you...

Well guess I should have read the whole thing.. Never mind.

I do receive quests from Florentius, Sorein, and Dunar without problem, so they, like the regular citizen, are nt seeing me as a vampire. Thanks for trying.

Can you ask Serana to turn you in to a Vampire Lord, if so maybe then you can get the quest to get the cure.

If you haven't done the missions for the Companions Guilds than you do have a way to cure you.

Just in case somene hasn't done them yet

Spoiler

During the missions for the Companions Guild you are turned into a wearwolf. At the end of those missions you need to cure one of the companions and you can do the same thing to cure yourself. If you have already done those missions than you just need to ask Arial, I think that is her name, of the Companions Guild to turn you into a wearwolf again and then cure youself of that

I think this will solve the problem.

Here's an update... I thought suggestions from folks, such as the one just above from TheEngravingMan to become a werewolf and then get cured, were reasonable and so I went that direction. However, things got even weirder with my profile once I proceeded. i became a werewolf, and imagine my surprise when I immediately cheeked and discovered that I now have BOTH Vampire and werewolf powers. No BS. I googled and found a youtube of at least one other person with a similar bug - (since this forum wouldn't let me post the link here, just google "skyrim both vampire and werewolf",video was posted by AnnoyingGamingGuy).
The only difference that I noted between my setup and this guy in the video is that no one is attacking me because I'm a vampire, other than that our situation are the same. BTW, I'm playing on an unmodded xbox 360, not a PC, so any comments re my having this issues because I hacked the game is way off the mark. i actually had zero problems with skyrim until this problem cropped up.

This was my thought as well. This may be the only way to unglitch the game. Alea has an option to get the werewolf blood again.

Wow. I have to say that is pretty damn impressive, I would love to have that glitch. :D

I have no idea what to tell you now. Post this in the bugs forum and see if someone from Bethesda might be able to come up with a fix.

And let me guess-you can't feed now, right? Anyway, that could be a problem. Try curing your lycanthropy, then becoming a werewolf again. It sounds counterintuitive, but you can always try that.

If you get infected by a regular vampire after getting the hand spike thing do your eyes glow orange or red.

@.@
Wow how in the world do you recreate this lmao.
It must have taken a very specific and lucky/unlucky (depending on how you see this situation) set of coincidences to have lead this rather odd situation.
You can always run the option of becoming a vampire lord and purging EVERYTHING from your system and then curing yourself?

All, thanks for the suggestions. I reloaded the save that I made prior to becoming a werewolf, and this time I instead had Serana turn me. I then went to Isran in the Dawnguard castle, and first thing he said is that he should kill me for getting infected.... finally, a ray of hope! He gave me the quest to go to Fallion. I then got Fallion to instruct me to meet in the marsh at dawn. Something went wrong though because I waited from like 3:30 to 7am and he didn't show. I ran out of play time and had to quit then, but I'm very hopeful that this is going to reset this bug for me once Fallion does his trick. Advice to anyone else who find him/herself in a similar situation, even though you're already a vampire, have Serana turn you and that should get the rising at dawn quest started. Getting turned to a werewolf doesn't seem to address the issue.

Good to hear. As long as you got the quest started it SHOULD work to cure yourself of vampirism. Though i have to admit its rather ridiculous that you found yourself in a situation where you have both werewolf and vampire. If you would have even been cooler if you were both a Vamp LORD and a Werewolf lol.

Falion usually appears around 5-ish. If you waited without the wait option, though, it's weird that he didn't show up.

Did you have the filled black soul gem, and the quest highlighted in the journal?

I've been a vampire for 324 days out of the 335 skyrim days I've been playing, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The same thing happened to me and I never could get the quest to cure vampirism. I ended up just loading an earlier save. It was a sad day in Skyrim . I lost some great loot and couldn't remember where I got it from.

Good news everyone, (no, I'm not related to Farnsworth) I'm cured. When I posted last I kinda figured that this was the end of my long quest to be rid of the plague, I just couldn't spare the time to try Fallion again. Well, I've done so now and Fallion performed his spell. I just waited for him outside his house and trailed him to the marsh this time. I couldn't be happier that this is at an end. To Limpsx12, I've been playing as a straight out dragon slayer and all around good guy since the beginning, and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't begrudge anyone who enjoy playing as a vampire or a werewolf, but personally I found being infected a real nuisance since the first minute. To each his own though, that's why Skyrim is the BEAST, everyone can find a method of interacting with the game that fits his/her style.
