Stuttered Movement

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:25 pm

I cannot for the life of me, run forward. My characters simply walk/hover/frozen-run forwards, & no matter what i do (Uninstalled the game from HDD, re-installed it, cleared both game & xbox caches, deleted Dead Money & my Classic pack DLC, re-downloaded both, tried another copy of FO:NV i rented from the video store, tried my owned copy of FO:NV on 2 other 360s, dropped all my items, made 2 new characters) i still cannot work out how to fix this problem or why it occurred. It worked perfectly 2 days ago, but turning it on today, Nada. My character can run backwards & sideways but not forward. Unless I'm doomed to play the game running backwards, can someone please help me address this matter?

Cheers :brokencomputer:

Update: When i crouch i still shuffle forward at a turtles pace, but when i stand back up, my characters are stuck in the crouch pose for roughly 3 seconds, at which time they will either jump forward (which normally happens to me if i jump right after exiting into a new area) or automatically run at a speed my characters have never attained before lol (very Tortoise & the Hare). I have fast traveled, loaded into the majority of the areas i have access to (some 49 ATM on 1 toon) & simply stood still for 30 minutes but occasionally moving the camera.

Just quickly (I've written alot, sorry ) ill add that i did purchase & DL Plants Vs Zombies yesterday off XBL arcade if that information helps at all.

@Tystreme - Yup, my other games work. The controls are set to default, just to be on the safe side i tried another controller & i reset all options to default when i switched out the controllers. Still though, it's the same.

That's a very strange one!
Are other games okay?
I don't suppose movement has been inverted, either in-game or the 360 defaults? Although even then, you should still be able to move in every direction.
If you've completely unistalled it etc, I don't know what else to suggest. I assume it's the same if you don't install it but play from the DVD?

Okay, I got fed up so i went out & bought myself a new 250Gig 360 with a transfer cable. I Transfered everything to the new HDD & set it up. I then downloaded all the licenses for DLC I've purchased & tried the game again. Still the same problem though.

That svcks!

Just a thought: are you using the same controller? There's a remote chance the controller's the problem.
(Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.)

You're not mate, I appreciate the help figuring this ?bug? out. As to you're question, yup I've tried 3 different controllers. My main controller (Wireless with a play & charge battery), my back up wireless (same battery as the previous) & my original (It's 5 years old  ) controller with a cord. I'm contemplating asking my brother if i can try transferring my save data onto his HDD, deleting everything off this one then clearing the cache's & re-installing the updates/DLC before i transfer my saves back (I should have done that before i transferred my saves onto my new box lol). I'll keep everyone updated on the progress.

I had a similar problem, but was my pad's falut: the left stick was dirt. I opened and cleaned the pad inside and then it worked well.
But since you say that you already tried all your pads... well, I cannot help you. :(
Anyway... your pads work well with the other games?

Yup all work fine, I have from time to time had the Drag that the right pad would give off (where it constantly drags game cameras to the left). Good news on the home front though, my latest idea did work (or seems to) & i am finally back enjoying F:NV. I did have to delete 3 of my latest saves including the auto save, but other then that it works brilliantly again.

How did you manage to clean the pad if i may ask Krono? I know all of mine (except my latest) have gunk around the base. Being able to clean them & keep them in premium condition seems a brilliant way to prevent future problems.
