So, on the mainquest, when the blades send you to kill the dragon and Alduin shows up to bring him back to life, I'm not sure if you're supposed to know at that point that it is Alduin, however, if you have subtitles enabled, the caption for the subs tells you its Alduin. Bit of weirdness.

I think you can see his name if you're able to target him, but captioning would make it easier to know.

The name is all over the place during the escape from Helgen too, as far as I know. Might've been more effectful had it just been a random dragon wreaking havoc, but having the mystery surrounding Alduin unfolded was fairly interesting as well.

Same thing can happen if you ever go try and talk to esbern before MQ if you don't know who he is.

Or you read the books, "Alduin is Real", or "The Alduin/Akatosh Dichotomy".
