SuggestedDesired Feature For Consoles (Effective)

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:32 am

Hi Bethesda forums & my fellow mates,

I own Skyrim in a PS3 and I would like to see a feature added to the game on consoles. I am not being selfish and leaving out the PC players, they are able to use the feature already, and way better... Yes, I would like the issues that the game has on this particular console and Xbox as well as PC get fixed.

So I watched the other day a video on Youtube which I forgot the name of it (was private browsing on my friend's PC), where the player switched his/her weapons with just a button. I am certainly sure that s/he was playing on PC, that is why s/he was able to do so. So I came up with the idea of a similar feature being added to consoles.
The feature would work similar to the "Favorites" but this time would work between Melee and Ranged Combat. Lets say you are a Sneaky Thief and like to switch, after killing some folks with your Bow, to your Dual Wielded Swords/Daggers. This would be a very nice feature to keep the gameplay going without having to go through the "Favorites" and switch in between. However, because the Up and Down Buttons from the D-Pad are being used by the "Favorites", the Left and Right Buttons could be assigned for this feature. Either way, to switch between Spells and Swords, or Bow and Sword, or Spells and Staff, and so on. You guys have the key to implement this feature and improve it from my idea.

So far I love the game, but the lack of a feature like this one would enhance the gameplay experience, and I know many people would find it useful as well. Leave your thoughts and comments.

Thank you for your attention.

I apologize if this or any similar feature has been suggested in the forums. Any moderator who thinks so can merge my thread with any other at will.

What you are talking about is the hotkeys on the PC. I am pretty sure that if they were capable of adding it to a game controller, they would have done so. Theres only so many buttons on a handheld controller.

Yes, the Up and Down Buttons and that is for all your favorites which goes from Apparel, Ingredients, Potions, Powers, Shouts, Spells and Weapons. That is why I suggested the Left and Right Button from the D-Pad.

I play on PC with an xbox controller and would love this...
Just found out that it's already in the game!

On Xbox360, PS3, and on the PC using an Xbox360 controller, to assign an object to either the left or right dpad hotkey. First enter the main inventory and make the object a favourite. Then return to the game, open the favourite menu, and with the object highlighted, press and hold the left or right dpad hotkey until a small 1 or 2 appears next to the selected item.

Yea boss, what you're talking about is already in the game. Left and Right buttons are "hotkeys" to assign them you go to the favorite menu...then hold left or right on the item you want to hotkey. Then in the heat of the battle you hit left or right to bring out that weapon/spell. You can also hit the button again to go back to what weapon you had out before hand.

I'd like there to be more than 2, but the controllers don't have enough buttons. They could make only up, or only down pick favorite so we can have one of those as a hotkey though.

Yes, for real. Like RedFeather1975, I use a 360 controller on the PC and this is how it works.

This is ironic. Just read the manual... I guess the day when I purchased the game all what was through my mind was nothing else but to play... And me who usually read the manuals while the installation is in progress. Thank you very much guys. I really appreciate it.

The ability to condense favorites into name-able sets, so I can select my dual dagger, switch to healing in left hand, then switch to a axe and reanimate spell in 3 clicks.

I don't understand why they didn't do it like Fallout 3 or New Vegas, where there were 8 directions on the D-pad (north, northeast, east, southeast, etc) and you could have 8 items hotkeyed. In New Vegas they had the up key designated for 'Change Ammo Type' and the other 7 as hotkeys... I have no idea why they've regressed to just L/R.
