I was thinking it might be nice if horses could act as pack mules rather than a mode of transportation. If you could load them with loot and give them the orders to "wait here" and "follow me" they would be much more useful. If on top of this they would run when attacked but return when you whistle they could be largely more useful.

As it stands now they are just a bad mode of transportation, only good for climbing mountains (lol). The lack of horseback combat and the fact that they are relatively slow makes them only a mediocre RP tool.

Anyone agree? Anyone heard any other good ideas?

a modder will definitely make the storage on the horse happen in the future I'm sure. There was a mod for Oblivion just like that. Giving them commands would be pretty handy, I personally would like to see some sort of way to call your horse back to you. The horse I have isn't very smart. He'll off after a troll but then run away from a Mud Crab... I'm always like "Dude wheres my horse?"

But anyway, I lose my horse all the time because of it and would like to see them add a 'whistle' to the game or something to call the thing back if its in range.

If you lose your horse... you can fast travel and it will appear next to you (or @ the stables if that's not possible)

I don't care about mounted combat much but the other stuff is pretty good. Screw horse armor, where's my saddlebags?

Saddlebags would give some value to horses.

Fighting from horseback would be better, but this would be something.

Although, I'm pretty sure if you mount a horse while overloaded with loot, you can still fast travel that way. Can't say for sure, since I don't waste my money on horses.
