Summoned companion pathing, will they fix it?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 11:06 pm

I've been trying to create a necromancer type character with undead till i noticed how bad the pathing is. The bandits i summoned would run off on their own or take so long to get to the enemy i've been killed twice over from arrows. I've tried atronarchs and their just not my style. Is there any chance this will get tweaked in the future or should i just give up and start another type of character?

If you think that's bad, try having your companions/followers keep running in front of your fireballs.

Companion pathfinding is one of my great peeves with this game too. Unfortunately, the problem with the pathing in a game the size of Skyrim is that you can't make the pathing grid too complicated, or the mob AI will take a huuuuuuuge chunk of processing power. Especially since the NPCs will move around on their own outside the area you're in, and all that gets simulated(though with decreased accuracy). They'll always have to make compromises.

Companions teleport to your target.

Gameplay fixed, loretards cry out that logic is broken!

See, I don't get this. Followers have preferences. I nver had a problem with Faendal or Eola stepping in front of a fireball. You have to play to your follower's archetype. A tank will tank; it might not be a good idea to use Area Effect spells like Fire Ball when you bring a tank along.
