Summoned Dremora Lords - overpowered? And a sneak question

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 9:20 am

I don't like things that make the game too easy.... but nor do I like total frustration. I like becoming powerful through well-developed skills/tactics but not broken game mechanics.

Two questions:

At high sneak (80+ skill) w/perks can you kill people right in front of other people and they won't notice or find you? If so, I will avoid sneak.

Is a summoned dremora lord (or two with twin souls) capable of wiping high level enemies like Draugr Deathlords (level 40+) while you watch? If they help but can be killed I will lean that way, but if they are unstoppable I won't b/c I don't like the idea of watching the game play itself for me.

Thanks to anyone who has played these styles at high level and can answer.

At 100 Sneak, with master level perk you can literally run into attacking enemy, crouch and slit his throat the next second. They have very narrow field of sight I guess. Don't know about the second question, but I wouldn't bet on the Draugr.

Two Dremora Lords are pretty well unstopable. They die once in a while if the opposition is powerful but by the time you can have two your manna barely drops when you cast one. So you can cast another.

I waltz through dungeons and battles. Just have to stay out of the way and not take damage as my Mage is kinda fragile.

I parked him, a bit too OP really. My latest build is designed to allow me to fight alongside the Dremora Lords. Very different with actual combat skills.

Not unstopble at all. There's some enimies that can smash them easily.Such as Charus Reaper's,Volkarin Vampires and Ancient Dragon.

I would say this.

OP experiment with the skills then with a new character choose what to limit yourself on.

That's true, there are a few.

You can cast more in an instant. If you are a Conjuror you did not get to Dremora Lords all that easily. After a lot of time throwing the hot girl in again and again the Lords are another level of summoned beings. I find the hot keys on PC work not too bad and I can switch from Dual Cast whatever, usually lightning, to a lightning/conjure setup in an instant.

It's trivial to throw two more in and they do occupy pretty well all the attention of whatever they are fighting with which is the main reason fragile Mages need summoned beings. My Bow is quite strong in my Mage build and when you can stagger a Dragon to death with lightning you are in a position to help them take on anything.

I prefer Storm Atronachs - they have ranged attacks and are permanent. Not to mention that they benefit from Conjuration perks which allow them to have extra hp (100 if I'm not mistaken). Just imagine those two, that Nord Mage follower from the College (uses shock spells) and yourself as a Shock mage. Thunderstruck.

With a high sneak, you can crouch in front of someone, and kill them in one hit with one weapon in the middle of a brightly lit party in dead silence with everyone facing you, and NO ONE WILL KNOW

I love the Dremora, just because my Mage is so fragile.

Thank you for the answers - so I will not use sneak, but plan to go the conjuration route - it will probably take me a looonnnggg time to get the Dremora b/c I don't conjure weapons (I've noticed bound weapons raise the skill incredibly fast).

Thank you!

Summons scale with the enemy depending on your difficulty, so they get the same health and damage bonus enemies get.

Dremora lords are tough, and deal a solid amount of damage, if you summon 2 vs one draugr deathlord they will absolutely destroy it. If you summon 2 when 4 draugr deathlords (which to be honest, on master you will find very difficult) then you have a more doable battle.

I like conjuration, just play the game (I assume your playing on master) and enjoy it, don't worry about being overpowered then you won't be. You don't have to avoid smithing, what I do is just get the steel smithing perk and the arcane perk, then I just improve whatever I find. I'm not overpowered on master. I wouldn't go with sneak, when you get to a certain level, you can kill everything without them seeing you at all, I didn't find it that entertaining.

So yeah, just don't worry about being overpowered, just play the game and have fun.

I have in a few medium dungeons just opened the door tossed in the pair then gone back outside and to smell the roses, well, and maybe attend to a pest or two. When they are finished they will come outside, and that lets you know it's safe in there.

Potions only affect how long the summon last. I haven't used one conjuration potion, on master.

I only summon these bad boys when I know I'm about to get swamped by the enemy so that it evens things up.

Volkihar Vampires kick the crap out of Dremora Lords. A Volkihar Master Vampire can swat both Dremora Lords away like flies.

2 dremora lords, your paralyze spell, and your ethereal shout for close contact will win you every encounter easily.

Vanilla (ie no potions involved), a Draugr Deathlord eats a Dremora lord for breakfast and spits out the bones.

1 vs 2 dremora lords, barely anything can beat them. Remember dremora lords have fire enchantments on their swords, master vampires > hugely weak to fire.

An ancient dragon would probably take down 2 dremora lords. I prefer storm thralls for dragons though.

Wrong, the dremora lord would win 1 vs 1.

Dremora lords are so cool.
Except when they run around smelling weakness, but can't actually find a path to it.

Plz,read about my reply about abusing potions. You can easily make a Dremora Lord 5 milions more powerfull abusing potion skill, enchants skill and smithing skill.
