Summoning Atronachs Not Working

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 1:09 am

Is there a special trick to making atronachs appear where the cursor is pointing?

When summoning, I aim the cursor to an area in front of me (my character) and the cursor is white. But, 8 times out of 10, the atronach never appears and I have to re-aim and summon again before it appears.

The summoning sound can be heard, but the summon fails. I often have to aim to the flattest spot possible before it appears. Very frustrating when the cursor is clearly white (not red) and I assume the summon will appear and doesn't (especially when being chased by pissed off bears or draugr lords...)

Do you have an absorb magica effect? Like the Atronach Stone? The summon spells are affected by it.

Yes, in fact I do have the Atronach Stone effect. How would that make a difference?

The Summon effect is listed under the possible effects that are absorbed by the Absorb Magica effect. And since the Summon spells are technicly casted on yourself there is a chance it might be absorbed. An oversight in the gamedesign I am surprised thay haven't fixed yet.

Thanks for the tip. I did some searching and apparently there is a mod that fixes it.

I'm sure they'll patch it eventually for us console users, it's a huge PITA. Another thing that bothers me is that Sanguine Rose doesn't work properly if you have the Elemental Potency perk in the Conjuration tree.

Thank you! OMG, I thought I was going crazy. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was doing wrong. Sometimes the Atronarch would appear, sometimes not. I switched back to the Mage Stone and the spell works every time now. Sure hope they fix this on the PS3 as well!

Why doesn't Sanguine Rose work properly with Elemental Potency?

Consider the Lord Stone. It's another defensive stone, like the Atronoch stone. If you're a compulsive looter or are in heavy gear, also consider the Steed.

Thanks! I'll try the Lord Stone. The added armor protection combined with Ebonyflesh or Greater Ward will be very helpful. I'm a mage using the Archmage robes and boots, so I'm not too concerned about carry weight right now. But I have used the Steed Stone for my previous character and it worked out really well, especially when my follower was wearing heavy Daedric armor and couldn't carry much for me.
