Summoning Strategies

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:41 pm

So I think I need some advice on how to use a summon properly, I am playing as a spellsword who specializes in lightning so my offense is pretty good. I thought a summon would be a good idea because it gives the enemy something else to attack and because its someone who can take on enemies to. The problem is so far my Flame Atronach seems useless more or less. I summon the thing and it starts attacking and hey thats great, but I swear no one focuses on it and I have a tendency to leave the thing in the dust and still take out the enemies solo.

So in short, for all you summoners out there can, can you all suggest strategies and tactics best to apply to a summoned creature?

At this point I am half tempted to not bother with summons and try Alteration or Enchanting or something.

The Flame Atronach tends not to melee, and will stand back and cast, just like you do. So it's not really much of a distraction. A Frost Atronach will get up in the enemies face and distract them, as will a Dremora Lord.

Well I melee a lot, I shoot lightning as I close the distance then slice away with my sword. What does the Storm Atronach do?

Also put the summons between you and your enemy.
Use the environment to your advantage, get behind a rock or something.
If your enemy has a hard time getting to you they will attack your summoned creature instead.
My mage had to use that strategy alot as she wore no armor.
