Sun Bockage

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 5:08 am

so I am still curious, has there been any info leaked as to whether the Sun will be blocked out either permanently or like a toggle if you use the elder scroll in a certain location? just curious as to players having God like powers to block out the sun? thanks

Likely to be permanent, although I don't think anything's been confirmed yet.

I can't imagine a sun toggle in the game, it would surely be permanent.

You can always just go check the beta forum, people are posting leaks there.

Those God-Like powers is the proper reward for those who side with the Vampires.
No more fear of the sun. Free to do as they will in plain sight. I want to think it's a permanent thing. It's not like anything else in-game relies on the sun besides vampirism.

Plant life, which would basically destroy all life of Nirn.. Ah I see what you mean.

...In game mechanics, I mean. Photosynthesis isn't in the game code.

I know, that's why I said I see what you mean, yeah I agree it should be a permanent thing. Although perhaps with the Elder Scroll(s) you would have the power to either block it out or allow it to shine, allowing you to control day/night.

I can't see many players being happy with CONSTANT night. Might get a bit boring after a while.

Heh, the day a video game properly replicates photosynthesis and plantlife ecologies in an open world RPG, it will be the day I'm ready for the Singularity. I don't think Bethesda has the programmers capable of pulling that off on staff...nor would they toss something so scientifically amazing as to replicate the growth of life into a video game as a minor detail to the world.

I hope permanent blockage of the sun is NOT the intention. For me (and I'd think most gamers), the world of Skyrim comes alive because of the ability to suspend disbelief and buy into the fantasy. It "feels" like a real world. No sun means no life. Period. Dead ice world.

Well, then why would you side with the vampires to begin with if "Realism" in a [censored]ing fantasy setting with magic and dragons is your primary concern?

No not wrong, I said I can't see many players being happy with that, I didn't say none at all would be.

Has anyone given a teeny bit of thought that this topic is, oh, I don't know . . . a SPOILER!?

Immersion is probably a better word. Skyrim's world is believable, It's why I kind of cringed at the thought of vampire lords turning into bats, just didn't seem to fit the theme of Skyrim well to me.
