Making a couple sets of custom super mutant. In the classic Fallout style...or so I hope to accomplish.

Those look awesome so far, I love how Super Mutants use the most random things as armor, it always ends up looking cool. I always had tons of ideas for super mutant armor, but never the skills to make it happen.
If you don't mind, I have some suggestions, might as well mention them in case you like them.

-A stop sign makes for good chest/stomach plating or an oversized belt buckle.
-A dog or wolf head for a helmet, similar to what Vulpe of the legion wears might be cool, a molerat could also be used.
-Brahmin skulls. We saw Ashur use one as a shoulder pad in the pitt, why not have mutants use them in some way as well?

Aside from that, raider armors could provide some inspiration I think, just use bigger things to represent the parts, such as a mailbox for a wristguard or maybe some hands or skulls hanging from a belt, or a gecko head for a hat or something. The possibilities are almost endless here.

Those are some great ideas Urge. Could save me some time from sitting and thinking what real world objects could become what.
Textured and just about done:

I have to agree that Super Mutant armor was always one of the things about Fallout that amused me.

Beyond always wishing that they would let me PLAY as a Super Mutant... I've also always wished they would let me use some of their less super-human-strength-required armors.

Very awesome work, so far!

Interesting, what do you think about a Molerat head on a stick for a weapon?

Very awesome work, so far!

The mod Tailor Maide from Fallout 3 included some Super mutant armor actually, at least the bladed helmet and some shoulders i believe. That mod in general was just amazing, if someone doesn't port that over to NV soon, I'll just need to get permission and do it myself.

EDIT: Oh yeah, got some more armor ideas.

I suddenly thought of a food themed super mutant, like a cook or something. I'll try to describe what I'm thinking of.
-Cooking pot for a helmet.
-Chest armor consisting of leather straps with frying pans or pot lids or something attached to cover the chest/stomach.
-Nuka cola/Sunset Sarsaparilla bottles hanging from the belt, along with some chunks of meat and a big spoon, maybe a spatula as well.
-Right wristguard with two knives attached as claws with duct tape.
-Left wristguard, a basic metal wristguard with spikes or something.
-On the back, maybe a shopping cart turned into a backpack filled with human remains or chunks of meat.
-The pants can have holes patched up with nuka cola labels, food labels or whatever.

And, I always thought a tribal super mutant, or possibly nightkin as they seem a bit more tribal already, would be really cool.

-Brahmin skull helmet or shoulderpads, eventually coyote/gecko head helmet.
-For a really badass mutant, Deathclaw head for a helmet.
-Bighorner head works as a helmet too, those horns could look very awesome.
-Leather wristguard with bones bound to it for some protection or a mean backhand.
-Human skulls dangling from belt, maybe with a coyote tail or paws.
-Clothing stitched together with ragged furs and leathers.
-Necklace made from some big monster teeth and maybe a dog skull in the middle.

That's all I've got at the moment.

Looks great! Would be cool to see more custom/unique super mutants hanging around Jacobtown, would remove the apparent blandness of the characters there.

While I like the classic FO1&2 mutant clothes, their faces look nothing like the old ones. The FNV mutant faces look more like the old ones.

EDIT: Particulary in http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4514/smscreen01.jpg screenshot, they really have a baby face :(

If you could give them a broader jawline (like Marcus) it would be more like the original faces.
