Super Mutant?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:10 pm

I ran into a super mutant giant or something, in some hills.

And...literally i could NOT kill him.

here are my stats:

S 3
P 10
E 1
C 6
I 4
A 8
L 9

I am level 7 and I own pretty much everything except these Giants...I also encountered a Giant Radscorpion and could NOT kill him.

What am I doing wrong against the big guys????

Did a little shield icon appear next to their health bars?

What weapon(s) are you using?

What level are you?

Why is your END 1?

Well, you're level 7. That's something to note. Which means, among other things, that you probably lack the weapons, armor, skills, and perks necessary to fight him one on one.

Also, your endurance is 1.

My endurance is 1 because I have boosted things for AP, sneak, and accuracy. I guess I'm a "sneaky/sniper" character. Although I haven't found a damn sniping gun yet????

A shield icon did appear and I do know what that means.

I'm using .357 Magnum Revolver, Cowboy Repeater, and Service Rifle.

I do not use big guns. This build does not permit big gun usage with efficiency.

I'm getting a lot of "why did you do that" comments.

Did I butcher this build??

edit: what am i missing about endurance? It's not my damage taking that's a problem. I haven't died yet and have needed to use health supplies very infrequently. I'm more of a sneak character and can kill most things before they notice/reach me.

Endurance gives you health, means you can take more than one blow before folding like origami.

The Shield icon means your weapon doesn't have enough damage (or you're not using the right ammo) to punch through the enemy's DT (Armor).

You have such a low strength that you can't even use the Service Rifle properly. With 3 strength, you'll be stuck with like Varmint Rifles until you get the perk that lowers STR requirements by 2. That's probably helping to hurt you ability to kill.

The shield icon means he has more DT than your weapon has DAM. Use a weapon with a higher DAM.

Also, it took me a long time to find a sniper rifle. But you can go to Broc Flower Cave and get a unique Varmint Rifle with a scope.

What do you mean I can't use it properly. It works fine?

I might remake and play through again, as a completely different character type, choosing different faction allegiances.

Anyone have SPECIAL build idea that would be completely 180 degrees from my current "sneak/stealth" class?

I'm assuming lots of EDU and STR?

Is this the build that you've also turned homosixual? If so, I'd just start over.

LOL

Hmmm....maybe. The homosixual thing doesn't bother me. I do 10% extra damage to all male characters. The dialog i can avoid if I choose.

Each weapon have a Skill requirement and a Strength Requirement.

If you do not meet the requirement you will have a penalty to performance. Though I am not sure what the exact penalty is. I think not meeting the strength requirement is a penalty to accuracy. Not meeting the Skill requirement is a penalty to damage.

For Example a Hunting Rifle (IMHO the Min Weapon to use on a death claw) needs Guns 50, and Str 6 to reach optimal performance.

[Edit]

Unlike Fallout 3, enemies in the game does NOT scale to your level. So there is a thing called too low level to goto that area :) If you are trying to head to New Vegas, go the route the story tell you to take. Do not go through the Death Claw infested area to the north of Goodspring.
