What are you using this sound system for (Blu-ray, games, etc.) and what's your budget look like?

Front: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290203 - $120

Center:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290106 - $100

Surround:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290201 - $85

This leaves you about $200 to pick out a decent receiver. I don't know much about current models, but the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882120176 is really nice and can be found for $250 or so fairly easily. Obviously lacking a subwoofer, but you can add something like the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290035 later on for $100. Alternatively, you can downgrade the Monitor40's in the front to a second pair of Monitor30's and the center to a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290211 saving yourself around $70 to put towards a sub or receiver.

There are alternatives to Polk of course, but I really like mine and couldn't recommend them enough. It looks like it'd go a bit over your budget, but I'm sure someone will be along eventually with better advice/tips for what I've suggested.

Is it one of those all-in-one remotes? If it is, you can probably look online for the code database for the remote and see if it features the receiver you are looking at buying.

I whould be able to get you a surround system for about 50$, but i don't know where you live or anything, my surround consists of 2 main speakers i got for 40$ http://img.audiofanzine.com/image.php?lang=fr&identifier=id&size=normal&module=product&product_id=94223 and a subwoofer, it's not really a subwoofer but it acts like one ''Sonab'' is the brand, and my Main speakers are from a french company 3A. from the 70's.
I also have a Kenwood, (don't know what to say, where you put in the speakers, like a stereo.) the Sub and the stereo i got for free.
So i have an awesome suround for 40$ and good contacts.

You should try finding something by Pioneer, good brand.
Do you know anyone that has some old speakers? it is good to have contacts, I usually help people at a place where teenager's come to play games, chill, listen to music, play paintball and so on, i asked my fellow workers that are working there if i could buy some old speakers they had and they said sure, 20$ and i got 2 speakers, but then i bought the 3A and the 3A's are alot better. Don't go any overprice speakers, ask around.
