Switching body types

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:11 am

I haven't gotten a ton of time in the game, but I like it so far. My question is, if I switch body types, can I have set outfits for each one? If I switch to Heavy, does it keep my Medium outfit, and if I change the outfit, does it change my Medium one? Also, is there a way to change to a different body type while in game? Sometimes I want to be a different body type depending on the current objective. Like if I'm escorting, I usually go medium, but if I have to defend something, I like going heavy. But I have yet to try switching in game.

no, and no

So I have to start a new character and unlock everything again if I want to make him have a different look? They should do something about that. I have no idea what map I'm going to be on, or side, when I start a game, I have no idea if I should be a Heavy Medic, or a Light Operative. Weak.

you can change your appearance and bodytype at any time but it only saves 2 appearances (security and resistance) per character at a time.

I know that, but you don't seem to understand my point. I want to be able to switch body types depending on the game. I can't do that unless I leave the game. I have no idea what map I'm going to be on, maybe I don't want to be a light body type, if my job is to defend an objective. Brink needs to update the way the Command Stations work by not only allowing you to change weapons and class, but also change body types!

I understood what you said, I was referring to your question of "if I switch body types, can I have set outfits for each one?"

You are correct that there is no way to switch bodytypes once in a match. That would be a good feature for them to add.

i wuld like an option to changebody type and/or characters before a match starts, without having to back out. i am against changing in-game though.

Any option to switch body types would be good. There should especially be one before the match starts! At least then you can pick your body type based on the map!

I was thinking about this, and it seems to me that it is probably by design that you have to live with your body size choice until you leave the server, as an attempt to further promote teamwork. It keeps a cohesion in your play style, no matter what the map, if you choose to be a heavy, for example. You'll gravitate towards a soldier role in this case. If you choose light, then you'll be more prone to play operative. The medium body type lets you vacillate between medic and engy.

Switching characters won't work and here's why:

You're hurting. You tap into the CP and switch to a different character - BANG you're all better. Not likely but it would be a HUGE issue.

Okay, so just do it so that you can select your body type at the match start!

And even with your example, health is based on percentage probably. If someone were to have 20% health as a light, and switch to a heavy, they'd still have 20% life.

Anyway I look at this, changing body in game or pre match start would be really nice

I think the option to select body type at match start would be good, but I don't think it's necessary.

Keep in mind, up until recently, body types were actually going to be fixed for your character, like tattoos and scars and face type - Once set, that's it (they were going to give the option to swap when you unlocked new ones, but that was all).

It's meant to be a fairly stable decision you're making - they affect your weapon loadout and playstyle FAR more than your class does.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying you're wrong, but I can see where SD are coming from.

Also, EVERY body type is viable with EVERY class - no exceptions. Heavy Operative, Light Soldier, etc. It can all work in the right hands.
