Sword and board vs 2H

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 6:18 am

I can't decide what type of warrior I want to use for Dawnguard. I have played both, and I like both.

What are your thoughts on this? Which do you prefer?

Go sword and shield - or axe and shield, really. You'll never regret it.

Here's my Lvl 68 Nord Warrior's build currently. He stomps just about everything on Master without mods. http://skyrimcalculator.com/#133474
With Deadly Dragons, Epic Encounters and other mods, it still works pretty good.

Yeah, I have never tried the shield charge perk either. Always wanted to.

It's fun, but not necessary. Getting good with blocking and power-bashing is vital, though. Block lends a rhythm to combat and lets you do more than just get toe-to-toe with another guy and hope to do more damage in a shorter amount of time than the other guy.

If you're going for pure damage, either 2H or dual wield.

If you'd like strategy with some more realism, sword and board. Just don't over power yourself with enchantments and this is a pretty fun style.

With Block, you never need to use Fus Ro Dah again. Blocking is 10000x better, can be used more frequently and only uses a dash of stamina. Go for shield and sword!

I've always preferred 2 handing it in Skyrim. Maybe because that is how I started. But, I feel like a true Nordic badass swinging those things around. Two-handed swords all the way. Also, I think it makes for a little more challenge since blocking isn't as effective. Sword and board is fun but I just feel like I have too much going on when doing it that way. The character looks more travel ready with just a big ass sword on his back instead of both a sword and a shield.

Ysgramor used a 2 handed axe. You think you know better than Ysgramor? Well, you don't. So go two handed.

He also used a shield, so sword and board!
