System Requirements? (Revisit)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:18 am

Hi! Sorry to start a new thread, but old thread appears to be several months old.

Any new details on PC system requirements for RAGE?

I am running a 2010 iMac. My system:

Windows 7 Ultimate, x64
2.8GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1066 DDR3 RAM
ATI 4850 HD 512 MB RAM

Obviously my video card is the bottleneck in this equation, but Win7 also allocates system RAM to DX processing. I noticed about a 10-15% performance gain over Vista and another 10% when doubling the system RAM from 8GB to 16GB.

Will "Rage" run on this machine?

Have already confirmed my system will run Crysis 2, and Alice: Return To Madness. Would really like to make it 3 for 3 this year!

Peace.

Your PC can definitely run RAGE with maxed out settings.

I remember one of the id programmer replied on Shacknews about 3 year ago, that he runs the game at the maxed out settings with Core 2 Duo CPU and GTX 280. And John Carmack also mentioned when RAGE shipped, high-end PC will be able to run it at almost idle state.

you have nothing to worry about. this sounds more like an e-peen post about your shiny new i7 than anything. your system can not only run RAGE at high settings, it will beat the living crap out of it. it's us poor folk still stuck with P4's that will have to spend all day tweaking the game to get it to work. and it WILL work at well below 'official' sysreqs as indeed all idtech games have in the past... it just won't be pretty. luckily carmack has accommodated for us with a very configurable engine.
