Crixus -Imperial
Crixus the Emperor’s rising
After having his family massacred back in Cyrodiil by the dominion, Crixus tried to escape to skyrim to go into hiding. After being caught in an ambush, it seems the dominion would finally put him to death and they would use his own people to do it. But some strange stuff happened at the fort, the kind of stuff from nightmares. He would not speak of it again to anyone for some time to anyone.
After the chaos and the escape with some Stormclock soldiers, Crixus knew he need to lay low so he ventured to the Mage’s college far in frozen north. He was in no shape to fight in this war and he still had reservations about fighting his own people. But the Mage’s College would be a safe haven for him to disappear from the Dominion surely it was far out of their grasp and sight. Right….
After settling into Mage’s College and avoiding the Dominion bastard there, Crixus was given a vision from a monk about preventing a great destruction. Armed with this and a whisper of a lost legend Crixus went off in search of the Galdaur amulet under the guise of research work for the college. After obtaining the lost amulet and continuing his research on the Eye of Magus the Dominion struck his new home as they did his last. But they were defeated; he would not lose anything else to the Dominion ever again. Once appointed Arch-Mage he told the college his first order was a declaration of war againist the Dominion which his fellow mages agreed with resolve.
He calculated that not declaring a side in the civil war would be the best way to go about it, as neither side would attack him because it would upset the balance of the war, but attacking the Dominion and leaving the Empire be would insure free travel throughout Skyrim. By doing so he could also use the Stormcloaks as a shield as he fought the Dominion. The Stormcloacks feared he would claim Winterhold from them and the Empire feared he would side with the Stormcloacks, his position in Skyrim had been assured.
After some fact finding in Whiterun he tracked the Dominion down to a secret base to the North West of Skyrim. Here Crixus would begin his war with the Dominion; the base was completely destroyed and sacked in revenge for their attack on the college. The pillage from this offensive would ensure that he would be able to fund a complete war chest, and start to gain favor from the Jarls of Skyrim. After gaining favor with the thanes of the northern coasts, he had effectively become a third option in the war for Skyrim. But he had to keep his intentions hidden as not to provoke the Empire or Stormcloaks, he had position in many of the courts and the Mage’s College at his back but he did not have the fund and resources to go to war with anyone but the dominion and their Talos hunters.
While expanding his influence to the South in Riften a chance encounter lead him into a meeting with a representative of the Thieves Guild. An alliance with the thieves guild would insure him a network of Spies and resources, so started the partnership with what was once the thieves guild. He realized that with his help the thieves guild could be rebuilt into something great once again. And he could do it under the noses of the Dominion, The Empire, and the Stormcloaks.
Through shadowy work and surviving betrayal, Crixus and the Thieves Guild emerged greater than ever. With blessing of nocturnal he had gained the funds he needed and the Spy network he need to control the Shadows of Skyrim. And not one of the Jarls would know of his motives as the College and the Guild business was largely kept secret to outsiders.
It was during this time that he received a request from the Jarl of Whiterun, he saw the strategic value of having influence in the Court of Whiterun. Little did he know that his ambition would lead him right to the front line battle with the nightmare he had kept secret and buried in the back of his mind. The Dragons have returned to the world once again, and he was apparently something more than he or anyone thought. He was Dragonborn, just like Talos the first Emperor of the empire and the god the Dominion was so afraid of. But no Dragonborn had fought dragons since the ancient times of myth, so he suspended all offensive operations against the Dominion and expanding his influence with the Jarls.
Upon meeting with the greybeards and learning of what it means to be Dragonborn, he started to reconsider his goals and his war against the Dominion. But he let no one know this but himself, he had more concerning matters. Still he had no more information about the Dragons returning or what to do about it, it was during this time that he met a woman with a very big secret and information about the dragons return. She was what could have been the last remaining Blade the great warriors of the Empire that were hunted down by the Dominion when the Empire buckled. They had much more in common than the blade knew.
Working with the blade he found out the Dominon may be the ones responsible for the Dragons return. He would attack them but the blade wanted another approach, one of stealth. But it wasn’t up to her, he declared war on the Dominion and he would take the war to their embassy in Skyrim. The information he would find there would shake him to his very core. It seems the Ulfred Stormcloak the Leader of the Rebellion was nothing more than a puppet of the Dominion. But things would only get worse, the Dominion would launch an attack against the Thieves guild, but it wasn’t him or the thieves guild they were after it was an odd old man they had been hiding. After defeating the Dominion and launching a counter attack against the very doors of their embassy, the Dominion played on the defense and would not venture out of their compound.
It was from the old man that he learned of the world eater, the end of days that the dragon would bring. He knew he had to kill it and the greybeards may be the only ones who knew how. But they refused to tell him anything because he would not reveal his information with them and they distrusted his motives. But he could not afford to tell the grey beards anything in fear of the Dominion or the Stormcloaks finding out about his plans. Leaving the Grey Beards without any information about how to kill the dragon he gazed off into the distance from the monastery doors.
The Dragons were returning and he had no way to stop them, the Dominion had all but won Skyrim and the Empire, regardless of who won the civil war. The Empire and the Rebels where nothing more than puppets for the Dominion. All seemed lost but as he gazed into the snow covered mountains he vowed he would defeat the dragons and the Dominion along with the Rebels and Empire. He would fight them from every corner he could, he would find away to claim the throne himself. But he needed people who knew the business of death like no other. He need the Dark brotherhood, surely they would have information on how to kill the dragon god. He left the Greybeards to seek out the Dark Brotherhood, he would remain masked so no one would know his face or his reason. He would also use the Dark brotherhood to kill a leading Dominion rep in the city of Markarth.
It was through the Dark brotherhood that he would be given an opportunity like no other; he had found a way to not only win the war in Skyrim, but also to come to power of the Empire itself.
He would kill the Emperor and using the chaos that followed to defeat the Stormcloaks for the Empire. Once the Rebellion had been put down he would be the hero of Skyrim and the Empire they would beg him to become Emperor. He would restore the Empire to its former Glory and fight the Dragon god with a Mortal army if he had to.
But he knew once he set his plan into motion he would need and an Alliance with the Companions to assure his victory in the war and the ability to take control of the empire from all challengers. Once he had gain the respect of the companions and was appointed leadership of them, he realized that he needed to have honor for his plan to succeed and the Companions taught him that honor. So then emerged Crixus the Hero of the Empire the man hope put down the Stormcloak Rebellion and gave the people of the Empire a new sense of hope after the sudden death of their beloved Emperor Crixus seemed like a gift from the gods to the Empire. A Dragonborn had founded them Empire and now a Dragonborn had saved the Empire. How could they not make him Emperor when the gods themselves had given them their savior?
Crixus had taken control of the College, the Guild, the Brotherhood, and the Companions. He was truly a force of nature, the blades had been restored under his watch, he was in all sense the Emperor and none could stand against him. The Empire had no choice but to follow his lead as he was effectively in control of all skyrim. So he rode off to the greybeards to once again try to gain information on how to kill the dragon god, before entering the Monastery he vowed that once he had dealt with the dragon god he would bring the full force of the Empire his empire down upon the Dominion. And history would never know of how much he had to do to come to power, they would only know of the honorable warrior who had been their savior.
