i like to play games as slow as possible to make them last longer. is anyone else like this or do you just rush through and get it done as fast as possible? when i play elder scrolls games i usually roam around and explore dungeons and areas and just do one or two quests. i can easily kill a few hours like this

85 hours and very few quests done. Mostly adventuring and just getting into the feel of the game. I've only been to two of the cities/towns. I dont know how anyone could be finished with the game after 80 hours...but many do. I guess they play differently than I do. Maybe they are really action/FPS players? No real RPGer is going to rush through this game in 80 hours. I remember watching a vid on Gamespot of a few of their reviewers discussing the game. The guy leading the discussion said he found dialogue and story in games to be boring!! He had clicked through all the dialogue in skyrim!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What on earth was he doing leading a discussion about Skyrim? What a moron!

Same here. Currently 350 hours, level 39, and still advancing in Companions and Main Quest (I ended the imperial one about the war), and those are the only ones I'm picking with this char (other guild-quests will go with other chars that will be a different Class). I also walk (not run) everywhere and never use carriages or fast-travel, so moving here and there takes a lot of time, that I enjoy feeling myself inside the world (hearing the wind, my footsteps, etc.). Got all markers disabled both on compass and map (current position, cities, caves, forts, enemies, etc.) so I sometimes get lost if I'm not on a path, and have to walk until I find a spot from where I can see landscapes that help me guess where I am, and where I need to head. Sometimes I'm lucky and find it fast, some others I need to walk a lot.

So yes, I like to play this slow, with no hurries and enjoying every moment of it.

Got to 375 hours played last night - 4 characters.

Two have completed the Mage College quest line, and they and the other two are at various stages in other quest lines. But none of them are anywhere close to finishing the game, or any of the other major quests.

I love dungeon crawling, and with 150 of them, or more, I only use fast travel to get to different traders/miners to sell stuff, otherwise I walk everywhere, mostly off road to find those out-of-the-way dungeons and explore the game. I may use fast travel if I have to get from Riften (sp??) to Solitude. And even then, I don't fast travel to my final destination, but only about 2/3 or half-way there, and then walk the rest.

The key to games like these is to take your time.

People who rush through it in 10 hours are missing the point of this kind of game, even though Bethesda pretends to cater for them.

I usually play slow, but it doesn't help, at least for me, that everytime I sneeze or pause the game to get a drink i've gained another level.

Yup, I'm so slow that I still haven't beaten FO: NV. I'm going to do the same with Skyrim too.

I usually put off questlines until I've explored the whole map (I liked it better when unexplored areas were greyed out so I could see my progress). Then I started buying houses. Then I started trying to collect complete armor/weapons set, stockpiles of alchemistry ingredients, ect. THEN I start doing quests. A single playthrough takes me years.

Last night I spent a day and a half just reading books, learning new spells, eating, and talking to people before I even started heading towards some action. It's really fun to just chillax for a day after you had a late night fighting a dragon. I also to lengthen and add weight into the game, make sure I eat (not religiously, just at least once a day), sleep overnight (usually), when I learn a spell I wait 1 hour for novice, 2 hour for apprent, etc. , and when I read a book depending on how long it took me to read IRL i'll wait an hour or two. I try not to grab EVERY quest and satisfy EVERY NPC in EVERY city. I found doing that with a couple characters took away from the game and I decided for my first mage I would turtle walk this game.

I don't deliberately play at a slower pace just to stretch out my game time, but I like to do and see everything, and will fully explore areas to make sure that I don't leave any treasure behind or enemies left breathing. Typically, my playthroughs are longer than the norm and I don't do speed runs. If I'm enjoying the game that I'm playing, I'm in no hurry to get it over with.

With Skyrim, I do like to make progress during every play session, but I don't try to rush anything. Eventually, I'll run out of stuff to do, but I'm in no hurry to get to that point. Right now, my Nord is just living the Skyrim experience and soaking everything up.

*I also don't fast travel. Skyrim is too pretty to rush from one destination to the next, and with my Nord being an alchemist, I'm always keeping an eye out for ingredients. Even though my warrior loves hacking bandits to pieces, he sometimes just likes to pick flowers and catch butterflies.

Truthfully...I only played this game on the weekends, when I was working. I stopped working and then without relizing, was fiending the game, giving it more and more attention, wanting more and more out of it, basically rushing through. After noticing this change I came to relization that, I will become dependent on the game giving me more everytime (creating new characters since nothing satisfied me).

After noticing this I just laughed at a mild case of game addiction, it just takes being aware and I overcame it.

I'm on my fourth character, none of them has finished the Main Quest; but each in turn has gotten further. The problem is, I don't want to make a character that does everything. Once I start to complete the faction quests and move the Main Quest along, I tend to run into something that the character I am currently playing wouldn't do. So I make a new character. I did the same thing in FO3 and FO:NV. One day I'll actually finish the game...

ditto...i take my time to take in the sights and usually get detoured exploring while in the middle of a quest. I still haven't visited every city/hold and i've had the game since 11/11
IMO you ruin the experience and design of the game if you power level and race to the top

I am 137 hours in. I am about half-way through the main quest I think. But I have paused the main quest now while I explore and do other quests.

Ie. I finished Comanions quest and am about 1/2 way through the Civil War quest.

I think I will finish the Civil war quest and continue exploring. I won't touch the main quest again untill a CK mod comes out that makes NPC's grateful/realize that I killed Alduin.
