Is Talos Nord or Imperial?

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 3:15 pm

General lore question. The nords called Talos Ysmir and whitestrike as he was refered to as a crusader of man who took over the world basically. The elves hate Talos with a strong passion considering a "Man" was able to defeat all including the elves.

Whats confusing to me is all of the Tiber Septim bloodline has been traced to be "Imperial" but the nords worship him and Nords don't seem to have ever envied any form of a imperial and i highly doubt they would worship the Empire or any of its citizens.

There is a stronghold someplace in skyrim that says they can trace there bloodline with the Septim bloodline. So, it makes me wonder if Talos is a Nord or a imperial? is there a mix between Nord and imperial bloodline at work here?

Or

Was Talos a Imperial and the Nords respected him for beating down all the elves and ruling the world?? Thats another theory i have.

Its perhaps not that big of a deal considering the gods can make anybody they wish to be Dragonborn.

Dragonborn so far
Tiber Septim: Orgin : ???Nord or Imperial
Uriel Septim: Orgin: Imperial
General Nerevar:Orgin Dark Elf ((This could've been any race considering it was optional to the player to become what he wished to be. But considering the lore involved that it was in fact a "Dark Elf" who was the general before and died to his on people forcing the Chinmer to be changed into the darkelf people. It just seems right))
Skyrim Hero: ((Game leans it toward being a Nord)) but again could be anything the player desires.

Talos was a Nord. But the Greybeards told him he had to move south to run his Empire, so he went to Cyrodil. Imperials and Nords aren't separate races, anyway. Imperials are just Nords that moved south and acclimatized to warmer weather over some generations.

He was a Nord who started a new empire. Many emperors were Nords.

From what I understand, Talos Stormcrown was originally from the continent of Atmora. I think that would technically make him a Nord? He took the name Tiber Septim once he conquered all of Tamriel because it was a more appropriate Cyrodiilic name. Not sure exactly how Uriel Septim VII is descended from Tiber Septim, or even if he is classified as an Imperial? Maybe through the ages, the Septim bloodline has been intermingled with other Cyrodiilic bloodlines, so the Septim line is now more Cyrodiilic than Nordic?

All speculation. I'm not certain.

He was Nord. That's one of the reasons why the Nords used to worship him.

The difference between Cyrodiils and Nords is about the same as between Italians and Germans: mostly cultural. Otherwise, they pretty much are the same race. Talos was a Nord who united both nations and took a Cyrodiil name, Tiber Septim, when he established the heart of his empire in their homeland. Through the generations, the Septim bloodline inherited much more from Imperials and Bretons than Nords, though. By the time of Uriel VII, it was as Imperial as can get.

Haven't all men (Imperial, Redguard, Breton) descended from nords? Only difference is that bretons have elven blood in their family roots.

If I just remember right after reading some lore about nords.

Well he was either born from Atmora or High rock, though there's no actual proof of either, so its pointless.

The real question is, was he even human at all?

Either way, they all descend from Nede (apart from the Redgaurd, who frankly alludes me).

Talos was a Nord, the Imperiels decended from Nords and so did the Bretons, Redguards are human but they did not decend from Nords.

In the Elder Scrolls, children are the same race as their mother, for example the gray prince in oblivion had an Orcish Mother and an Imperial father, as such he toke after his Mother and is also an orc. This explains why some family lines occasionally switch from one race to another.

The Nords came from Atmora the Cold in the north. From them descended the Imperials and the Bretons (some Mer blood too)
The Redguards came from Yakonda over the sea to the west.
But techically there are little but cultural difference between them.

Just like all humans today originates from Central Africa (for those believing that)

Cool, thanks for the lore link. I was a little confused about the Talos being Nord thing.

Imperials are just Nords that moved south and acclimatized to warmer weather over some generations.
Yes, that's how racial differenciations work.

Talos was a Nord, but I would never recognise him as one. I'll always know him as Imperial scum.
