Teamwork Oriented AI

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:37 am

When playing through both storylines, I had a few missions where I could not complete an objective for two reasons.

1) The AI prioritized capturing Command Posts over completing mission critical objectives

2) If the AI did go for a primary objective, either there were to few of them and they were uncoordinated as a squad or they weren't aggressive enough

I would love to be able to play this offline on my own and feel like I'm playing with real people, but being the only guy on my team trying to complete the mission while (what feels like) all the hostile AI are focused on defending the objective.

Am I the only one who has noticed this problem? And if so can this be fixed with a patch?

Ya I noticed this too and it is my only problem with the game is that the AI go for the CP more then the main objectives which as you said keeps me from beating missions. Hopefully they can do something about it since I do enjoy playing offline by myself.

All that really needs to be tweaked is how they prioritize things and possibly timing them out so they move on an objective as a wave instead of trickling in one or two at a time.

Oh, and have the AI automatically switch to mission required classes. I enjoy being able to run around as just the medic and thats where I've put all my upgrades

AI is making me want to rage quit.. So pretty much all games i try to play solo/story mode the first go around to get a feel for everything.
(and kinda have to since multi-player seems to be a no go diggie die)
Here is what I've seen a normal mission in brink so far.

- Mission Bink Awesome -
Mode - Easy
Main Objectives
1. Repair the crane.
2. Hack the missile controls

A. Destroy the main barricade
B. Destroy the side barricade
C. Repair the walk way crane controls

(really should say)

- Mission Bink make ears bleed and babies cry -
Mode - Give up.
Main Objectives
1. Watch NPC enemies arm bend backwards and shoot you.
2. Watch NPC team mates stare at walls.
3 Watch NPC team mates focus on securing "major objectives" like health and supply consoles.
3. Do not attempt to repair the crane.
- All attempts are futile.
- If attempt is made prepare for NPC team mates to focus on objective 2 & 3.
4. If a a higher power grants you the ability to repair to crane Do Not hack the missile controls.
- See notes to Objective 3.
- Ditto.

A Watch friendly medics ignore you like that cheap ceramic clown you saw one time at a thrift store.
B Fail the mission 3 more times due to AI being fudged.
C Prepare for ears bleed from popping and screeching noises.

Soo true buddy, in some way it feels like playing with real humans but only with those stupid selfish ones who don't know a dam thing about teamplay and who are only keen on kills.
An well yeah just like call of duty...

Playing offline yesterday proved to me that there's NO way the AI would succeed at something unless you're taking the aggressive point on every mission, unless it's defense. I was playing an Engie and was told to "Guard the safe" since I needed to have an operative open it.

After a minute, a friendly operative showed up and started hacking it... for 5% points. Then he wandered around on the stairs behind the safe because he was trying to figure out if he should guard the stairwell, or cap a point, or do something.

Eventually, I gave up, died, changed to Operative, unlocked the safe, delivered the key. It took less time for me to do it all myself, than it took for the AI to do 5%.

The programer that programed those A.I and MP Support and graphic's should be fired no question asked and no answer given.
