Technical Difficulties have cut me off from skyrim for an ex

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:08 am

Yesterday, my brother was innocently using what I will call "The Skyrim PC" when its video card spontaneously died.

The card should still be on warranty as it was purchased brand new only two months ago, but for the time being I have been completely cut off from Skyrim.

Considering that it could take a week or even two to return the bad card and install a new one, I'm worried that I may go insane in the meantime. In the worst case, I could even completely lose interest in my character before the PC is up and running again, thereby leaving myself with a broken mind and nothing to show for it.

Wat do?

Use this opportunity to take a break from the game.

Go play a completely different genera of video games and enjoy yourself. When your vid card comes in, you'll be refreshed from your sabbatical and you'll more than likely enjoy Skyrim even more than before your unfortunate mishap.

It's hard to roleplay without the scales. I could buy a costume maybe, but that might take too long.

This does not compute.

Hmm. Perhaps this may yet slow the decay of my mind.

I will try. I will try!

Perhaps I was wrong in assuming that you had a different gaming platform as a backup plan?

Something similar happened to me in the middle of my first Morrowind phase. My family decided to drag me on vacation for a week. IT was kind of a lame vacation anyway, and I was so engrossed in Morrowind that leaving it for a week was pure torture. It ended up toning down how much I played for a few months and that worked out well.

No gaming platform can contest with The Skyrim PC, simply for its very namesake!

But that's exactly what I want to avoid. I haven't been this unproductive in months, and I'm loving it!

I hear the Shivering Isles are lovely this time of year. Oh, and the CHEESE!

I know the feeling.

Last month my hard drive crashed, and the wife-unit told me to wait about two weeks to adjust our budget before I could replace it. I was stuck with my daughter's games that consisted of a couple of Guitar Heros, Gears of War 1-3, CoD: Black Ops and MW3 (not to mention a few other nauseating games) on their XBox.

I was a sad panda for a little while.
