In terms of sheer content, is this game worth 60?

Post » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:40 pm

As a poor college kid, I have to be intelligent with my game purchases. I'm not gonna lie, this game looks amazing. The graphics, gameplay, basically everything look wonderful. But is it enough to last? When you finished the campaign (10-15 hours I heard), were you compelled to play it again? Were you dying to try the coop missions? Is the car combat online surprisingly addictive? Basically, having played the game now, would you guys say it was worth the 60 bucks you paid?

I dont know, what does $60 mean to you? Are you going to have to skip a meal to buy it or do u have to choose between other games?

lol no, no meals skipped. It's more in competition with other games. For instance, if I were to skip on Rage, I would probably pick up Dead Island instead.

At this stage I'd suggest getting dead island.

Rage is a fairly good game but it lacks replay value ( other than change in difficulty). Also multiplayer isn't very long and gets a little repetitive.

issues are also still been fixed in rage.

I'd rate dead island an 8/10

And rage a 8.5/10, but due to all the problems and pain its caused for me, I'd downgrade the experience to a 6/10

EDIT: Most of the wasteland legends (multiplayer mode) in rage are pretty fun. But there aren't many levels, and after you complete them a couple of times you don't really wanna see them again, as they don't variate at all.

EDIT 2: Unless you have mates with the game and wanna play multiplayer or co-op expect to wait awhile. The matchmaking system inst that good

I disagree, aren't people still waiting on dead island to be patched?

Dead Island was patched (for the PS3, at least). I haven't had any problems with it. And that's a tough decision! I have both and love them, but currently, I love Rage just a bit more. Dead Island is buggy but addictive, and you can smash into zombies with a vehicle. Rage is in much better shape, but there's not only the usual FPS fun but the car combat, the arcade-style racing, the card games, and the online is like Mad Max meets Twisted Metal - very addictive!

I've been spending most of my game time swapping back and forth - Dead Island and Rage. Both are well worth the money. If I had to choose between one regarding content, however, I'd pick Rage, especially the Anarchy Edition which not only has some valuable goodies for the game, but it comes with extra sewer missions that are normally a $10 addon.

Hell no. Don't even waste your time with this story-less, mediocre 12 hour shooter. Pass it. I'm still trying to sell this piece of [censored] on eBay as we speak.

i got the sewer missions in the standard game for free. (Australia)

I'd agree with you, rage has better content. But the bad launch has made it bitter for me thus far.

Also the car racing really doesn't float my boat, multiplayer racing is reasonable but single player is way too easy and im on hard mode.

Put it this way if you can buy a game this month and another next
month I would get Rage now which if don't rush, explore and do
everything you should get 20hrs of gameplay easily.

Next month pick Skyrim and get 2000 hours gameplay.

If you can only get one then go with Skyrim. Even though I love
Rage I'd say your best bet would be to rent or borrow it. You can
even go to Gamestop and grab it used, beat it within 7 days and
then take it back and put the money toward Skyrim. When you buy
a game used from Gamestop you can return it or full price within a
week.

Honestly if you want a game that is loaded with things to do Skyrim
will be your game. I bet you if got Skyrim you can play it for your
entire stay at college and still be finding and doing new things.

Good Luck!

Lol, Rage vs. Skyrim isn't a fight, its Superman killing a crippled hobbit. I am just looking for a game to hold me over until Skyrim comes out after I beat Dark Souls

I was actually asking about the console version as well. Sometimes I don't bother with the distinction, but in this case the console version is far more stable. As for returning it, I understand his reluctance. The game that he paid 60 dollars for he might only get 25 back for. It can feel like a rip off, and in some ways it is. He might be able to sell it for 35-40 on Ebay or Amazon, and he'll get that in cash too.

Indeed. GameStop offered me $25 store credit, which is quite frankly a slap in the face. So I'm trying my luck on eBay.
